I thought the hardest thing I have ever done was leaving Damien to start college, even if I was coming back for summers and weekend visits. Then it became leaving him during those weekend visits, leaving both him and Charles and Joey.

Charles and Joey became my brothers, and after some coaxing from both me and Damien, we got them to start dating. I definitely didn't see Joey being bi, but he asked me about whether or not the feelings he started to have towards Charles was normal.

My senior year, I got a job offer from a museum to work at, since my major had been Art History. Problem was, it was all the way in London. While I wanted to take the job so bad, I didn't want to leave Damien behind. Somehow, Joey and Charles found out and told him, and Damien told me to take it.

That was four years ago, four years of not seeing each other except for face timing, not hearing this voice exactly for phone and video calls, all for a specific reason.

His name is Damien Jr.

I got transferred to the museum about thirty minutes from our small town, and I decided to surprise everyone. Damien Jr has heard all the stories from my past, about his Uncle Joey and Uncle Charles, and he loves stories about his daddy.

I looked in my rear view mirror at his dark curly mop of hair, his eyes as dark and as warm as his father. He looked so much like Damien it pained me everyday I saw him, except he had some of my traits as well.

He had a light scatter of freckles, and how curly his hair is. My favorite trait he got though is the fleck of bright blue in his left eye, almost exactly like mine. He was smart, so incredibly smart for his age, and was tall at 3 and 11 months. We only have a week till his fourth birthday, and I decided for his present to finally come home.

I pulled into the last exit, my eyes scanning around me to the town I never thought I'd come back too. I smiled as I passed the park, the one Damien gave me a ring at. I glanced down to it still on my finger, an opal stone surrounded by little diamond.

"Are you ready Damien?" He grinned at me, showing off his grin with one missing tooth.

"Are we seeing daddy today?" His voice was about high, but it still rumbled a bit with a small English accent he had picked up.

"Yes, we're seeing both Daddy, Joey, and Charles." He grinned again as I pulled up to the gate in front of the mansion I had grown to call home, my breath hitching as I scanned over the landscape.

"Whore you Miss?" I smiled at the guard Andy, who obviously didn't recognize me.

"It's me Andy, Fern." His mouth dropped, his eyes wide before it stretched out into a huge grin.

"Does Master Damien know you're here?" I shook my head, keeping my eyes in the silent toddler behind me.

"Nope, I wanted to surprise him." His eyes glanced back before flicker up to me, when they widened and shot back behind me.

"Is that –"

"His, yes. Like I said, big surprise." He nodded as he pushed the button to open the gate, my rental car driving smoothly up the driveway.

I smiled to myself as I watched Joey and Charles leave the house with stone cold faces, eyeing the suspicious car until I rolled it to a stop. I turned to face Damien, his eyes wide as he stared out the tinted windows.

"Stay quiet for a bit baby, okay? You want to surprise Uncle Joey and Uncle Charles, right?" He nodded enthusiastically, his smile pushing one onto my face as I opened the door.

Their faces turned into one of complete shock when my head popped out, Joey launching himself onto me as soon as the door shut behind me. "Fern!"

I laughed as Charles jumped not long after him, my hands clinging onto them as I tried to not cry. I was saving that, saving my tears for a very special Italian.
