"I thought it'd be funny"

"I have nothing to wear!", I screech, as I run around my room chaotically. Fabian had just recently told me to dress up fancy, because he would be taking me on an extremely elaborate date. By recently, I mean about 5 minutes ago. Apparently he "misses my company", but I really don't understand what he misses. My corny puns and fluent sarcasm? Maybe.
"Calm down, you have to have something", my friend replies carelessly. She's searching through the mounds of clothes in my closet, rummaging through the variety of dresses, she pulls out a loose black laced dress that's goes above the knee and tight at the waist.
"Ooh, what about this?", she suggests happily. Her eyes are filled with excitement and her lips are curved into a wide smile. Looking up hopelessly, I see the dress I had just recently wore to a party. Which, coincidentally, Fabian had accompanied me to.
"I already wore it", I answer absentmindedly. I have now admitted the fact that Fabian will soon be ready and suited, in his car, ready to drive off to a magnificent date. While I stand there in my pajamas, telling him that I couldn't find anything to wear, hopelessly embarrassed. My face has despair written all over it. I lay in my bed, sprawled and miserable. Thinking about the look of disappointment on Fabian's face when he hears my lame explanation.
"Face it Amber, I'm never going to find a dress", I utter dramatically. The silence of knowing she hasn't found a dress, has just brought the doubts of even finding one higher. I hear her gasp loudly, at first I'm terrified, but then I realize that that could only mean she's found a-
"Oh my! Karlaaaaa!", Amber yells, painfully loud.
"What", I mumble, not caring what she has to say anymore. I look up slowly, sitting up on my bed, knowing she would make me listen forcefully.
My eyes land on a tight salmon pink dress, covered precisely in shiny pink diamonds. The bust area is dipped down into a V shape, with the waist slimmed. My stomach turns and my body jolts with excitement. Fabian had given me this dress almost 6 months ago. I had never had the perfect opportunity to wear it, so I had stuffed it in my closet ever since.
"How could I forget? Fabian gave me this like months ago. But I kept it in my closet for the perfect occasion to wear it", I felt incredibly stupid. How could I forget about this dress. Fabian must be waiting for me to show up in this dress, and a minute ago I completely forgot this dress even existed. I bolt over to Amber and snatch the dress from her trembling hands carefully. I admire it's color and beaming diamonds, while a smile plasters on my face as I think about how gorgeous this dress is. But my grin quickly begins to falter as I think of how the dress may not fit my body the way that I'm imagining. After all, I've never tried it on before, which probably wasn't the greatest of ideas.
"Wait...what if it doesn't fit right", I ask Amber, a look of pure horror plastered on my face just as I begin to think of how embarrassing that would be.
"There's only one way to find out", Amber chants while simultaneously shoving me out of the closet into the open space of my room. I take a deep slow breath, with wide eyes following Amber scurrying out through the door. Closing it loudly and the last thing I hear is the lock click before I'm left in silence with this dress, that all the more just complicated my life.
Yes, yes I know, I'm being overly dramatic. But if your boyfriend called you at what, 7:30. And asked you to get dressed up fancy, you not having a clue to what fancy looks like. Considering my closet is made up of sweaters, and leggings. Wouldn't you freak out a little, oh, and may I just add, that I have no idea where he's taking me!
"Does it fit?", Amber yells loudly through the door, which comes out muffled to my ear. I had managed to seep through the soft material easily, which gave me hope it might fit well.
"Do you have heels to wear with it", walking slowly to my tall body length mirror, I debate whether or not I feel comfortable walking around with this dress. I look up painfully slow, trying to avoid the disaster I'm about to witness.
"Oh my god, a choker would look sexy as hell Karla!", My eyes gradually squint open. What I see takes my breath away, I gasp loudly and a huge smile spreads across my lips, my hands fly over my mouth and cover half my face. Something I tend to do when I  get extremely happy or excited, which would mean both right now. I twirl around to see every angle of the dress on my body. It hugs my curves perfectly, but makes them look incredibly sexy. This dress has just boosted the little amount of confidence I had left skyrocketing. I can't wait to see how-
"I have some really cute heels at home I could bring", Amber walks in completely distracted, until her eyes wander over to me and roam over the dress with an open mouth. I turn around for her to see it at a better angle, and I can't help but smile, thinking her reaction says how great the dress looks.
"What do you think?", I ask awkwardly playing with my hands. She takes a while to respond, still admiring the dress.
"I can't even put to words, you look gorgeous", she beams while looking into my eyes. I can tell she's being honest, the look on her face just shows it. She comes up to me and hugs me tenderly.
"Fabian will freak when he sees this dress on you", she states, while holding my hand.
"Shut up", I joke not really knowing how to respond. But I do imagine the look on his face, more curiosity though.
"Ok, so what heels will you wear", Amber asks while rummaging through my shoes, going back into fashionista mode. I don't answer, partly because I really have no idea.
