Chapter 3
Jace's pov:
Me and Ava were working on our project, when she asked me "So how come we've never talked before?".
"Never really felt the need to talk to you" I said a little harsher than I intended.
"Oh" was all she said and I could tell she caught my harshness.
"Don't take that the wrong way Ava, I'm just not the talking kind of guy" I replied.
I couldn't help but notice how she flinched when I said her name. I mentally smirked at the affect I have on her.
Just to keep the conversation going I said "Ava if you don't mind my asking." "Why aren't you out partying, it is Friday." I said in a duh tone.
"Well I did go out to eat after school, but I knew you were coming over, so I didn't make any plans" She said simply.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to ruin any of your plans" I said in rude tone. I have a really bad temper, anything can make me irritated.
"Jace you didn't ruin any of my plans. I didn't even have any plans" She laughed.
Wow she has a really cute laugh. I just smiled back at her, trying my best to hide the fact I was thinking about her.
"So what are you thinking about?" she said out of nowhere.
I was a little surprised at her sudden question, but quickly recovered and tried to think of an answer.
My mind was blank. Should I tell her I was thinking about her and her cute laugh? Or how big and beautiful her eyes are.
No I can't, I can't do that to her. I'm dangerous and she deserves someone better.
I continued to stare at her because I couldn't think of something to say.
Then it hit me. I can't let her catch feelings for me, even though I want her.
I said "It's none of your damn business!" I screamed and gave her my meanest glare.

Ava's pov:
"It's none of your damn business!" Jace yelled.
I flinched at the sound of his voice. I instantly regretted ever asking that question.
What's his problem? Was what he was thinking about top secret or something?
He's definitely not the guy I thought he was.
"Sorry for asking." I said in a rude tone.
"Whatever let's just finish the project so I can get away from you." Disgust clearly in his voice.
Wait why is he disgusted? Do I disgust him, I thought he kinda liked me. Man was I wrong, he's the biggest jerk I've ever met.
Now I can see why he has no friends. I never want to talk to him ever again.
Then an idea popped into my head. He thinks I'm so disgusting, so why not be his "best friend" and annoy him.
I'll make his life a living hell and make sure he knows who he messed with.

Jace's pov:
It was really hard to talk to Ava like that. She's so sweet and dare I say it beautiful.
I've always kind of liked her since I saw her freshman year. I never talked to her because she's considered "popular".
I know if I tell her my real feelings it will end in disaster. I have to do my best and keep her away.
Ava didn't reply, but she looked like she was thinking hard about something.
I decided to just stay quiet and finish the project. When we were done I got up to leave, but before I left I made sure Ava knew I was leaving.
"Bye Avelyn" I decided to say her whole name. I thought it might make me sound like I didn't like her even more than just saying Ava.
"Bye" she said in an annoyed tone.
I have to admit it kind of hurt knowing Ava doesn't like me.
It's to protect her, I told myself.
