My eyes grew wider than the span of the Grand Canyon as I read the text. My heart began to race, and I wasn't prepared for that, considering Brittany had just been shot.
Teens proceeded to scream in terror as dead bodies flooded the floors of Jasmine's home. Jasmine shrieked in fear.
The sight I saw was horrific. Dozens of teens, murdered. The Unknown Number was the cause of this, and it made me furious knowing that I could do nothing about it.
"Crystal, are you okay?" William yelled.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" I replied.
No, I wasn't. I was far from fine, and so was everyone else. I wasn't anticipating for the police to arrive at Jasmine's party. It was obvious that the police were called already because I heard sirens come from down the street.
What happened tonight would haunt this town forever. Possibly the entire United States. This had been practically the biggest murder in the entire state of California.
The police slammed the door down, rushing in with their guns held up. "Everyone, down on the ground!" The police officer yelled.
Everyone laid there for few seconds. The police searched the house to see if anyone else was hurt, or worse. Not that it mattered, considering nearly half of the party were already dead. The police allowed us all to stand up.
A ding went off.
Unknown: The gang is on their way to the motel, Crystal.
I ignored the Unknown Number and began texting my mother. I tapped rapidly as my heart rate increased. I hoped in my mind that she was okay.
Me: Mom! You need to get out of their right now!
Mom: What? What's going on?
Me: There's no time to explain! Just, get out of there!
Mom: Crystal, you're scaring me.
Me: LEAVE THE MOTEL IMMEDIATELY, MOM!
"Joshua, can I use your car?" I asked.
"Yes, of course. Let's go."
Without worrying about anyone else, including William, I got in the car with Joshua, and drove to the motel. All the memories I had with my mother and father in the past struck me. It made me shed a tear.
I remember one of the greatest days I had with them like it was yesterday. That day defied who my parents were, and how much I truly loved them.
I was only eleven years old, and I again, remember it like it was just yesterday...
We all drove in the car to Disney World, singing road trip songs together. "100 bottles of milk on the wall, 100 bottles of milk, take one down, pass it around, 99 bottles of milk on the wall!"
It was my birthday, and my parents surprised me with tickets to Disney World, my utopia. They also surprised me with my new brother, Jason. You would think they adopted him, but no, he sat still in my mother's stomach on that day, and I'm sure he sang songs along with us.
"Hey, Sweetheart, what ride are you getting on first?" My mother asked with a smile.
"I wanna' get on the princess ride!"
"You mean the Cinderella ride?" My father asked.
"Yeah, that one!"
Both my parents laughed. "Well, I'll tell you what. After Disney, let's go get some ice cream."
