A room was perhaps not the best way to describe it. It was like walking into the floor of an indoor stadium. The space was immense. It must have been a thousand feet high and a thousand feet wide. But that wasn’t the most impressive part. The room was a curved corridor that went on for miles in both directions and mounted in the middle of it was a huge metal tube with stair wells and gantries that allowed access to all parts of its surface. It looked very similar to the pictures Jake had seen of the Large Hadron Collider only on a much larger scale.
The Emperor was there with Pamoi, the Prime, and Zdane’i, the Minister of the Interior, and ran up to meet them with a glowing red color that indicated joy and pride.
“I wanted to show you this. This is our planet’s first non-experimental fusion reactor built by my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandancestor. It still is fully functioning and is one of the three that we control here in the Black Kingdom. It took over a trillion man-hours to build and is still the most expensive object that our species has ever produced. Our other fusion reactors are bigger now but this is still the first and provides half of our nation’s power. The remaining energy is used to electrolyze water to provide hydrogen to run our cars. Do you have any thoughts or questions? Skepre can provide any insight into the technology if you are curious.”
No one had any and they followed the Emperor into a conference room with chairs for the five Replini and four humans.
