"Are you crazy? Is this safe? How are you-" My mother blabbed on as I packed up my backpack. I pretty much just tuned her out after a while.
"Mom, I'll be alright! You'll see! And I'll be with Yurina the entire way!" I stuffed some snacks in my backpack as I headed towards door. "I gotta meet Yurina in 10 minutes! I'll send letters during my adventure! I love you Ma!" I ran and gave her a hug which took her off guard for a moment.
"Be careful," She told me.
"Always!" I responded. "Now I gotta go!"
I closed the front door and looked back at my house. I don't know when I'll be back here again.
~~~~
"Yea, yea, goodbye!" Yurina yelled while she slammed the door. She has an odd relationship with her parents. Plus her family is totally complicated.
"You ready?" She asked me.
"Duh! Let's go!" I responded grabbing her hand and running off to the nearest port.
We traveled to the beach where the biggest air and sea port on our island was. We decided to fly since I have never been in a plane before.
"We'll be at the mainland in no time, and from that point on, we can get to the next clue by foot!" Yurina informed me.
But, as if on cue, alarms sounded and lights started to blare. We were "losing altitude" whatever that means. I may have never been on a plane, but it only took common sense to figure we did not receive some good news.
The intercom sounded, "This is your captain speaking, we have an engine out in the right wing and will crash momentarily. There are enough parachutes for only five people."
Well that was a shit place to end. Five people. Seven passengers, and three crew members. The other passengers looked around just like how Yurina and I were. As if to say "I want a parachute but I don't want everyone else to die" with our eyes. Then out of nowhere, a very small little girl pushed through everyone.
"Out of my way! This princess ain't dying!" And with that, before anyone could stop her, she grabbed a parachute and jumped. Well that's great make our jobs harder please!
Within half a second everyone panicked. We have to act quickly if we want everyone to survive.
"Hey listen up!" Yurina yelled and did not hesitate to wait for people to calm down. But she didn't have to. "Each parachute can hold 500 pounds. Pair up in groups of two or three depending on weight. We'll use the seat belts to secure everyone together."
We ended up sending three groups of three and one group of two. The last group which consisted of me, Yurina, and an elderly woman were about to secure ourselves, when we realized that we were too heavy for the parachute. Curse my totally muscular body! (winky face)
"How will we survive?" The woman asked in a shakey tone.
I looked Yurina in the eye and I could tell she knew what I was thinking. "You two go and I'll find another way down."
"But miss, you should take my place, I'm too old and you have a whole life a head of you!" The lady protest.
I looked at her a smiled, "This is where I start living it." I looked at Yurina and could tell she was against it. But I could also see she believes in me.
"You better come down there alive." She threatened me. "If you don't, I will kill my self to slap you in the afterlife."
"As promising as that sounds, I'll have to pass. I'll be alive. Promise." I said as I buckled them together. "Have fun!"
Yurina took a running start with the lady on her back. But as soon as her feet left the plane, I was already looking for a way off here. Little do they know, I was bluffing. I didn't have a plan to get off the plane. I turned and saw my backpack. I grabbed it. There's nothing useful in here now but I'll definitely need this later. I looked under the seats to see a raft. I glanced out the window to see we were above water. If I can somehow use this to break my fall, I won't get injured! I quickly tore the raft to make it more useful and grabbed an oxygen mask.
I stood at the edge of the plane, "Bombs away!" I yelled and ran off the edge. I used the raft as a parachute but it wouldn't hold for long. Just enough to where I could land in the water unharmed. I was a good distance to the water where I could let go of the raft. I did it! It worked! I survived!
Before I had time to verbally celebrate, I was tackled and submerged underwater.
When I came up I hear a familiar voice, "You did it! I knew I could trust you!"
I interrupted, "Yurina, hate to rain on your parade, but you almost killed me before I had a chance to celebrate myself."
"Consider it payback for making me wait so long."
"Ok whatever. What now? And can you please not hold me so tightly?"
"Land should be 2 minutes that direction, Yurina informed and pointed ahead." And I can't swim."
Shit, forgot about that. Looks like those two minutes will be about ten minutes.
