homecoming (almost)

your absence has been a weight on my chest that i didn't even notice until i realized how hard it was to breathe

but you're here and that warm glow is burning brighter than ever and the nights aren't so suffocating and days suddenly don't look so empty

and i tell you i love you every day and i never mean any less; after all, the sun rises every day and it's still just as breathtaking

i've never meant any less when i call you sunshine, darling

everyone listen: my someday girl is back, and she's a moment away, and i love her more than the warmth in my chest can ever convey. and i'll try, i'll try someday in words and hugs and i can't believe my eyes
