Between: Hope and Despair

Chapter 3: The Sacred Blade

Narrator: "Now Jake just returned to the village, with his home burning behind him. He then went to go to the home of the village chief one week later as he stayed at the local inn. Only to not be permitted entry by some bodyguards."

Jake: "What do you mean not allowed in! I have to ask her something very important."

Bodyguard 1: "Sorry kid, chief Abigail is busy dealing with the recent incident involving the destruction of the Alexandris house, plus she doesn't have the time anyway to deal with a kid like you."

Jake: "I'm the elder of Leah Alexandris's two sons, Jake Alexandris. Even if that isn't enough, then this is!"

Jake shows the two bodyguards the pendent left to him by his mother. The two were amazed that he had the pendent, apologized, and let him through.

Jake: "Thank you."

Bodyguard 2: "Just go in."

Jake steps into the living room of the chief to find their chief, Abigail sitting in a chair."

Jake: "Excuse me chief Abigail, I'm Jake  I wanted to ask permission about entering the sacred shrine of the sacred blade.

Abigail: "Really? There is only one person allowed to even step in there, and that is the one who bears the "Pendent of the Blue Eye."

Jake: "Is this is?"

Jake shows her his pendent.

Abigail: "How did you get this?! I thought only the Alexandris family passed it down and from what I have heard Leah and her son Isaac burned as the whole place went down a week ago!?"

Jake: "You already forgot that Isaac had an older brother?"

Abigail: "So you are this said older brother. I had heard that Leah did have a child before Isaac, but he was born with Death's Grasp in his left arm and was given Holyite prosthetics and died."

Jake: "Well I did survive. See have have those said prosthetics."

Jake looks at an ancient map.

Jake: "(in head) This map is outdated. It has Toriph, but it has these other land masses that don't exist."

Jake shows her his arm up close.

Abigail: "Very well take this special pass and show it to the guards. They will let you in."

Jake: "Thank you chief."

Narrator: "Jake rushes out of the door, buys some supplies at the shops, rushes up to the entrance to the shrine, shows the guards the pass and Jake stepped into one of the most important places on his quest."

Jake: "So, this is where that piece of the legendary weapon is. In my books it said this piece that resides here in Blizentia is known as Icicle Wing, a sword that can manipulate ice."

Jake grasps his hand around the blades handle.

Jake: "Geez this thing is cold, but if my mom told me the truth, I need to pull this out."

Narrator: "Jake pulls the sword out of the pedestal where the blade resided, even though he feels he is about to freeze to death. However, his stubborn attitude pushed him to pull the sword out and suddenly, the chilly feeling was gone."

Jake: "That wasn't so bad-."

Then a mysterious golem made entirely of blue ice erupts from under the pedestal.

Golem: "I am the guardian of that blade, prove you are worthy by defeating me in combat."

Jake: "Okay, I did not see that coming. Oh well, time to take this baby out for a spin ."

Narrator: "Jake's reflexes had been enhance by removing the blade, however he could only make semi-deep cuts into the golem. He didn't know how to manipulate the ice within the blade and the golem punched Jake straight into a wall."

Jake: "Ow, crap! This is bad how do I make the ice work!?"

Narrator: "The golem had then uppercutted Jake into the ceiling then crashing down."

Golem: "You are not worthy."

Jake: "I'm screwed to oblivion here!"

???: ".... resolve..."

Jake: "Who's saying that?"

???: "..resolve..."

Jake: "Resolve?"

???: "Yes, use your resolve to control the ice within."

Jake: "Now I get it."

Narrator: "Jake using the mysterious voice's advice finally found the resolve to fight and a strange blue light eminated from both pendent and blade.

Jake: "Icicle."

Golem: "You are-"

Jake: "Slash!"

Golem: "-worthy."

Jake: "(pant) (pant) That takes care of that guy, I'll go back and tell the chief I did it."

Narrator "Jake returned to the chief's house as she sees him carrying the sacred blade."

Abigail: "You truly are her kid. You performed something outstanding."

Jake: "Thanks."

Abigail: "Here. I had prepared a special sheath for that blade."

Jake: "Whoa! It matches my clothes!"

Abigail: "Oh! Do you still need that old sword?"

Jake: "No actually."

Abigail: "Do you mind giving it to me? We are running low on trainee weapons."

Jake: "Sure. I don't need it as long as I have this."

Abigail: "Thank you. I also forgot to mention here is a map of Toriph. This will help you find your way to other villages."

Jake: "(extremely grateful) Thank you, this will make finding my away around the outside world so much easier. I'll set off at once."

Narrator: "So, Jake accepted the map from chief Abigail, and set off to the closet village to Blizentia, the village of flaming fists, Pysoris."

Jake: "I wonder if Pysoris is as hot as they say it is. (looks at map) Well judging by the fact it is near a volcano, I'd say that it is very hot.(sarcastically) Great."
