When Annabeth left the infirmary, she seemed pretty on edge. I wasn't like, watching her or anything. I was just like, walking and then she ran out looking all shaken. I walked over and, because what are friends for, hugged her. She let me which is like, really not like her at all.

"Alright, what it is," I demanded, "Is she a brat or something?"

"No, she's good, but.." Annabeth trailed off.

"No buts," I said, grinning.

"But.." she said again, and rolled her eyes at me, "it's hard to explain."

I gave her Puppy Eyes, and she gave me her Annabeth Stare. That was like, so unfair, you couldn't beat the Annabeth Stare with anything. So I crossed my arms and pretended to Sulk. 8-year-old are good at Sulking, let me tell you.

"She's a Παιδί του παρελθόντος (Paidí tou parelthóntos), a child of the past."

Of all the things I was expecting to hear, let me tell you, that was not one of them. I just kind of stared at her, because like, how do you respond to that?

"She was born a very long time ago, but something, she can't remember what, made it so that she is still the same age now as she was 74 years ago, she is still your age, though she should be 81, this is usually a bad sign, also she is really bad at English," Annabeth said, just in case I didn't know what she meant.

"Can I see her?" I asked, though I have no idea why.

"Sure!" Annabeth said, she would be glad to see you!

Annabeth led me into the infirmary, and to the girl's bed. Then she left, leaving me alone with the girl. Her eyes were a deep green, and her hair was wavy and black. She was obviously Spanish or something.'

"Hey," I said nervously, not sure what she would be like.

"Hello, my name is Ayanna, what is your name?" she asked.

"Lehya, " I said automatically, "I don't speak Spanish."

I cringed a little inside. What is my issue?? But Ayanna just snickered, and said something in Spanish. When I asked her what it was, she just gave me a Look. Her eyes sparkled when she smiled, and I found myself giggling a little. We talked and laughed for a little while, and I felt like I could feel a friendship starting. This is good. But she could possibly be the symbol or foreshadowing of bad things to come. This is not good.

"Can you tell the boy here who is, " she hesitated, "boss, tell him I can get out now of this place, I am not sick?" she asked me.

"Sure," I said. "Will!" I shouted.

He ran over, looking scared. Oops, I probably shouldn't have scared him like that. What is my issue??

"Um..can Ayanna leave the infimary, she's fine!" I asked, trying to sound like I was in charge. Trying to sound like Annabeth.

"Fine," he said reluctantly, "You should take her to see Chiron though."

I nodded to him, and led Ayanna out of the infirmary. Before I took her to Chiron, I let her put on some of my clothes, and wash up a little. Then, we headed toward the Big House. As we walked across the grass, I couldn't help being a little nervous. This was a real chance I had to make a friend, and I was afraid that this might mess it up.
