Erin's father had left her mother, Amanda, when Erin was 4 months old. Her mom hated her father, Chad, and Erin grew up disliking him too. Her mother had secretly become a lesbian, and when Erin was 11, Amanda came out of the closet. When Erin was 17, Amanda and her long-time girlfriend, Kira, wanted to get a civil union.
So the three of them moved to New Jersey. Erin loved being half an hour from NYC. Kira and Amanda got a civil union. Kira wanted to get to know Erin more, since she and Amanda had discussed the adoption of Erin by Kira so she and Amanda would be her parents. Kira grew up in NYC, so she decided to take Erin there for a weekend and show her around. Friday, after school, they left for the big apple. First they saw a show on Broadway. The next day they shopped all day. That night they went to an SNL show.
Kira had gotten them backstage passes. Erin fell in love with the life-style of acting and production of SNL and couldn't wait to meet the actors. She didn't get to talk to them much, but they were all very nice to her.
Back in NJ, Erin started at her new school. She joined their drama club, as she had at her old school. She was surprised to see that they were starting a subdivision of drama club called FEL, Friday Evening Live (kind of like Saturday Night Live, but on the Friday evening of every month). Erin originally joined as stage crew; she didn't act, but quickly discovered her gift of writing and became head writer and assistant director.
Around Christmas, the director organized a field trip to NYC to see SNL. Erin and her friend, Jasmine, got backstage passes. Jasmine was their lead actress. After the show, Erin and Jasmine ran backstage. They talked to a few of the cast members. They explained that they were here on a field trip. The SNL cast took an interest and wanted to meet the FEL cast.
The next morning, before the FEL cast went back to NJ, they meet with the SNL cast and talked about stuff. The SNL cast wanted to see some of the FEL's skits. The FEL cast performed some of there best skits, all written by Erin. After the third skit, Jasmine came off stage and talked to Erin, Erin was sitting between Andy Samberg and Bill Hader.
Occasionally Erin would act because no one could do a British accent. Jasmine wanted Erin to be in a skit. Erin refused, but Jasmine insisted. Erin denied, saying she hadn't rehearsed and that skit was from October and she didn't know the lines. Jasmine said Erin knew all the lines, she wrote them, and she remembers everything she writes. The SNL cast was surprised when Jasmine said Erin wrote all of this. Erin finally agreed and rushed back stage to change. 30 seconds later, the skit started.
About a minute into the skit, Erin entered and was welcomed by cheers from the SNL cast. She performed her best and received a standing ovation. When she returned to her seat, Andy asked if she had written that, and Erin replied yes. Bill said Erin should be writing for SNL. After the performance, Bill and Andy talked to Lorne Michaels about possibly hiring Erin. When Lorne, who had enjoyed the performance more that an SNL performance, found out that Erin had written all of that, he hired her immediately.
Erin began writing and the fans loved her work. At first, she was quiet and didn't say much. The other writers made her into a page, and she would do stuff like delivering messages to the actors. One afternoon, she was given a bunch of notes to give to the actors. When she asked where they would be, they said they'd be in their dressing rooms. First she gave notes to Kristen and Amy, then Jason. When she gave Andy his note, he asked about it. The writers were suggesting that he work on his British accent.
Andy asked how he could change his accent for his Prince Harry imitation. Erin gave him a few suggestions. She was kind of shy and quiet. Andy asked if she could give him 'British lessons' since she had an awesome fake accent. Erin agreed and went to deliver a note to Bill.
