A sigh rumbles through Lilith's throat. The news kept stalling the announcement of the winners. The announcer had a dark blue tuxedo, and a gray tie. Though he was obviously a werewolf from his stature, and the excessive amount of...

Hairiness.

Everyone on television was blessed in one way or another. Even the witches, who were very much like human beings. No excessive strength, and no shape shifting, but they were able to mold the earth around them. Manipulate people and the environment. She always wished she could have been a Witch, or anything really. This wasn't the time period when humans rule the world. The goddess of the Earth had truly abandoned the humans. While they were her most failed creations, she loved them enough to mold the earth in their favor. Their only gift; Adaption.

Imagining what it could be like to make a plant grow, or change her hair color with incantations, Lilith snapped out of her daydream at the sound of her name.

"And our final, first time, human scholarship winner, is ...... Lilith Dawn," The announcer exclaims, and the live audience goes wild. She couldn't believe it. Underneath the kitchen in the Varndell Estate, was a lottery winner. Jumping up with excitement she turned the television off and ran to her small bedroom at the end of the very long corridor that existed under the sunroom the of the estate. Or more of a quarter of the sunroom, as all five servants had rooms that equaled the space of the sunroom above.

Her room couldn't hold more than a few belongings. A brush, a ratty pair of tennis shoes, and three outfits. A nightgown, her factory uniform, and what she was already wearing. Her casual wear only consisted of a regular blue blouse, and a pair of dark blue jeans. She owned more than probably 50% of the human population. Quickly she placed it all in a little sack, and ran out the door to run back to the Town Hall for her paperwork.

Passing all the servant quarters and the back entries to living quarters of the families and the kitchen, she ran up to the front door. She wasn't really looking in front of her, and was taken aback when she ran face first into a solid form. Eli towered over her, and at almost six foot tall to her measly 5'3, she squeaked.

"I'm so sorry Master Eli," she said through clenched teeth. She wasn't actually sorry.

His tight arms grabbed ahold of her shoulders, and he physically picked her up off the ground, and to the side of him, and then flashed his pointed k9's. Her first reaction was to glare at Eli Varndell. He was by far the worst vampire she had ever met. His dark brown hair was always too perfect. He wore his hair in a trendy fade, and his black abyss for eyes rarely showed any emotion at all. He freaked her out.

Her second reaction was to kick herself for daring to glare at him. The first time she glared at him, he took her to another room for a feeding. Straight from the tap. His unyielding hunger could have sucked her dry, and left her corpse rotting for the maid to clean up. Shivers wracked her body when she remembered how cold she had gotten, and how dizzy the lack of blood had made her. She had vomited all over his shoes.

Getting bit by a vampire hurts like hell. Their venom makes all of your muscles give out, and makes you the perfect prey. One bite and you're basically comatose. You can still see and hear, but you can't move. He had cradled her in his arms until he sensed that he had taken too much blood from her frail frame. He left her in his study until she regained her ability to move, and his sister Isla, helped her to her bed.

But getting bit by a vampire won't turn you into one. Vampires reproduce just like everyone else, and they certainly don't live forever. Their life spans are typically only double that of a human. Most vampires live to about 200 years old.

"Excuse me, Master Eli, I must get to the Town Hall," Lilith said nonchalantly.

Eli's back tensed for a second, and in a brief moment, he was on top of her.
