"So do you know where Mihael is, or is this a shot in the dark here?" Logan asked as she loaded another box into the trunk of Ben's car.
"It's more of an educated guess really. I can't think of anyone who's more prepared for the zombie apocalypse, and I doubt Mihael can either," Geoff chuckled lightly, "I'm pretty sure she owns every zombie movie ever made, from Warm Bodies to Zombieland to 28 Days Later."
"Well then, it seems like a useful trip whether Mihael's there or not," Logan said. They turned to go back inside when Geoff's phone dinged. "Yeah, I met this dude and I'm almost to Linda's, but my phone is dying. I'll find you babe, I promise. I love you". A wave of emotions hit Geoff, worry, excitement, joy. Mihael had promised to always protect Geoff. He thought about the time he had gone out for drinks with some of his college friends.
"C'mon Geoff, one more round!"
"No way, any more and I'll be dead before I can swallow," Geoff said with a laugh. He stood up and stumbled slightly, but caught himself on the bar. He carefully made his way outside and pulled out his phone, "Hey Mihottie!"
"Geoff? God, how drunk are you?" Mihael sounded tired, it was going on three in the morning after all.
"Drunk enough to need to go home but sober enough to call you to come get me, Mihottie." Geoff responded with another giggle, "I'm at that old timey tavern thing, come get me please~."
"Alright, I'm on my way babe, don't go anywhere."
Geoff nodded, forgetting Mihael couldn't see him and sat on the curb. He fiddled with the strings on his hoodie as he waited, having difficulty tying a bow with uncoordinated fingers. Someone sat next to him and he looked up, it was a guy who reeked of alcohol worse than Geoff did.
"Hey cutie, what are you doing out here all alone?" He said, severely invading Geoff's personal space. Geoff shifted away from him but kept smiling.
"Waiting for a ride home."
The guy shifted closer and put his arm around Geoff's waist and he began to attempt to squirm away. "Y'know, I really don't need the company. My boyfriend will be here soon," Geoff said, making sure to stress the word boyfriend. He tried to stand, only to slip and fall back on his ass.
"Well, we can have some fun before he gets here," The guy said as he slid his hand up Geoff's thigh.
"No! Get off me!" Geoff pushed him but he was stronger than he looked. He grabbed Geoff's wrists and Geoff began trying to break his hold. He was much weaker than the guy and his squirming didn't seem to be doing anything but angering the guy. Just as he seemed to reach his tipping point a hand grabbed his hair and a knee slammed into his face.
Geoff looked up in shock at Mihael standing over them. He grabbed the front of the guy's shirt and punched him. "Don't ever lay one of your grimy fingers on my boyfriend again, you hear me?!"
Ryan helped Geoff to his feet. Mihael dumped the guy on the curb and rushed to Geoff's side. He hugged Mihael tightly, "Thanks for saving me."
Mihael pulled away to look into his eyes, "I'll always save you. I'll always be there to protect you, no matter what."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Ryan awkwardly cleared his throat, "Uh, guys. That's tooth-rotting and everything but it's 3:12 and I still need to kick Mihael's ass in Smash Bros and Mario Kart, so..."
"Yeah right, nobody can beat me as Toon Link," Mihael laughed as he and Geoff walked to Ryan's car.
Geoff couldn't help but smile at the memory. "I love you too." He typed out the message and sent it quickly. Logan came back out and he stuffed his phone into his pocket.
"Alright, this is the last box. We're all set to move out."
"Cool, let's go. I want to find my friends as soon as possible," Geoff said as they walked back into the main store room. Ben was shoving paperclips into his pockets and Rebecca was wrapping duct tape around the handle of her screwdriver.
"Beccs, what are you doing?" Logan asked as she walked over to her.
"God Logan, have you never watched Crazy Russian Hacker? It takes up less space like this and is more accessible," Rebecca replied as she rolled her eyes. Logan laughed, "Alright."
"Trying to beat the paperclip chain record?" Geoff said as he walked up to Ben's side.
Ben chuckled, "No, Rebecca said any metal would be useful."
"There's tinfoil in aisle two."
"Sweet, thanks."
"Alright guys, finish up. I wanna get going as soon as possible," Logan said. Rebecca finished off her roll of duct tape and Charles snapped the clip back into his gun. Ben rushed around the corner and his pockets crinkled. Rebecca laughed as Ben grabbed his bat. Logan shook her head, but smiled, "I'll go check for any stray zombies, Char- uh, Geoff, wanna back me up here?"
"Sure. No prob," Geoff stood beside Logan as she opened the door. She looked around with Geoff always looking the opposite direction, they slowly made their way to Ben's car. There weren't any stragglers around but Logan wasn't going to risk any showing up.
"Go get the others, I'll keep guard." Logan said as her eyes darted around. Geoff was reluctant, but left her by the car.
"Come on guys, it's all clear," Geoff lead them to Ben's car where Logan was still glancing around frantically. "Logan, they move slower than a tank, it's not like they're going to just blindside you."
Logan took a deep breath and relaxed a bit, "Yeah, I guess you're right. I was never really one for horror movies, y'know?"
"Yeah. Well, no. I love horror movies. But I get what you're saying."
Logan chuckled. Ben opened the driver side door, "Can we get going? Please?"
"Alright, let's get on the road."
