“Ty! Ty open the door!” I pleaded. I slammed my fist against the door hoping he would give in. I should have known better, trying to break in with my fist is getting me now where.
I could hear the door being shoved forward, then a thud on the floor. After I heard a stroking sound, as if he dragged something against the floor.
"Ty please…” I begged, tears flying off my face. Racing towards the floor, eventually forming a wet spot.
I laid on the floor for about 3 minutes crying, I heard nothing but silence. My sister Aria walked up the stairs and kneeled down next to me, pulled me into a passionate hug.
“Why did I say that…” I mumble into her shoulder, shuddering with every breath.
“Say what sweetheart?” We always had a close relationship. She was and still is my everything. I wouldn’t be alive without my sister.
"He could cook for his boyfriend!” I screamed so loud I’m surprised that Ty didn’t walk back to the door.
“Why does that bother you?” She asks like she’s my mom. But it sounded more like a therapist this time. She practically is my mom. She taken care of me since I was 7 years old. She’s 5 years older than me. I used to go with my dad to make sure he knew I was alive. But it took me awhile to understand that he didn’t care if I was alive or not.
“Because… I-I” I kept hiccupping.
"You can tell me anything, remember that. I’ll love you no matter what you say.” Hearing that reasured my trust in her. I bet I could say that I murdered someone, and she would sit by me brushing my hair. Telling me everything would be ok.
“I think I love him.” I spat out. Hearing it sounded so right. Yeah, I love Ty. I love him so much. And I never want to lose him.
"I could tell, and I’m proud of you for telling me. But I’m not the one you need to tell.” I knew what she was talking about. I had to tell Ty. Now. If I don’t, I’ll never tell him. He’ll never know how much I care.
"I know… But the door’s locked.” She chuckled and pulled a key out of her pocket.
“I always have a spare. How do you think I got into your room, when you acted like this?” I glanced up her and a wide grin grew on my face.
“Thank you.” I softly thanked her, as she gently started rubbing comforting circles on my back. She raises the key to the door, unlocks it, and leaves the rest to me. She walked back to her room, giving me a pathetic little wave. I repaid her one back, and she giggled before closing her door.
I slither towards the door, and slowly push it open. As I saunter through the door in a hushed manner, I notice Ty. He’s so peacefully curled up, sound asleep under the several blankets I have stock piled on my make-shift bed.
I make my way over to the bed, and sit next to the sleeping teenager. I lightly brush my fingers through his tousled hair. It’s choppy but has little curls at the bottom. Dark and lustrous, could almost have been mistaken for jet black. But the sultry deep brown could be seen around the edges and in its wily shine; anywhere the room's darkness didn't obscure. With a shine so beautiful diamonds cant compare.
He quietly winced and shuffled in his sleep. The small whimpering turned into a bit of talking… Fear admitting out of every word. I began to rub soothing circles onto his back, just like my sister does with me when I’m sad.
The mumbling continued, and I began to feel worried. A shriek of pain and agony was spilled out by the brunette boy sitting next to me. I jumped back, taking a tumble to the floor. Noticing that Ty was squirming even more now, I grabbed his shoulders, sat him up, and began to shake him violently until he woke up.
He was breathing deeply, beads of sweat rolling off his forehead. I pulled him in for a tight bear hug. The hug was like a blanket- soft, warm, and large. I was like that childhood teddy bear, that you’d hug when you’re scared or sad.
He began to weep in my arms, shaking with every tear that falls. Ty looked up at my face, his maroon eyes now big and puffy. He moved away from me for a second, only to sit back on my lap with his back facing me.
I snaked my arms his waist and pulled him closer. I gently kissed his head, almost getting hair in my mouth, but I ignored it. I progressed down his head towards his face, softly kissing his heated cheeks. He shifted his whole body around, so that he was now facing me.
I slowly leaned in, resting my head on his. He was still stuffy, sniffing his nose every once in a while. We sat like this, him in my lap. His legs wrapped around my waist, while my arms were snaked around his. It was silent for about a minute, until I finally spoke up.
“What were you dreaming about…?” He pulled his face away, and looked me straight in my sunglasses which I managed to snag out of my room this morning. He closed his eyes, his long smoky eyelashes nearly touching his cheeks. I raised a hand towards his face, and watched him recoil slightly, his sad eyes finding mine again.
He took a deep breath and explained to me how he’s had this on-going nightmare about his mom. How he would walk into the house, and hear some screaming. Then how he would slowly creep upstairs to find that the screams were only mere whimpers. As he shuffled over to the door, everything was gone, and all was silent. When he opened the door, he found his mother laying on the ground. Gun in hand. He always explained a mysterious mist, that he soon realized was blood. This was such a morbid nightmare, and to think all of this was caused by his father.
I nodded my head a few time, assuring him that everything was okay. My thumb rested softly on his cheek, rubbing the tears off. I pulled him back into my arm, like we were before. I ran my fingers through his hair, trying to sooth him after all the emotion he just threw at me. He nestled his head in my chest and relaxed.
"Ty…” He shifted his head.
“Hmm,” he mumbled into my chest, sounding sniffley.
“Everything will be… No, everything is okay. Just trust me," I explained in a hushed tone.
“I-I trust you Sky…” He hesitated by nodded his head, which made my curly hair bounce.
“And Ty. One more thing…”
“Yeah Sky?” He sounded confused, which I expected him to be.
"I love you.” His head jolted out from under my chin, almost making me bite my tongue. He stared at me in disbelief, but I grabbed his hands placing them in mine.
I removed a strand of hair from his face, staring straight into his eyes. Slowly our faces began moving towards each other. The taste of his sweet minty breath enchanted me. His soft lips seemed to fit perfectly in mine, making my heart flutter uncontrollably. He was so gentle, so cautious. It was only a moment before he pulled away, smiling.
"I love you too, Sky."
