I read about it the news first.
I'm in the grocery story when a headline catches my eye. Raton local dead in single car crash. By Marcia Bates.
It hits me in a funny way. The realization. Or perhaps the discovery. I'm not sure of the correct words.
The article says that it happened at 3:07am, yesterday, July 16th. It was an accident. A freak accident. The right front tire of the car blew out (maybe from a rock? Police are not certain) and sent the car catapulting headfirst into a tree. The drivers' side maintained most of the impact.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
