Zephyr
So many good
and so many bad
memories.
Zephyr
I learned so much there.
There was the game I was told I needed to slide.
There was the time I watched my sister play out in the cold.
Zephyr
I had so much fun there.
Softball games, enjoyed with my team.
I found out I had made the All Star Team.
And even launching rockets.
Zephyr
I don't think I ever realized that I'd be back.
I thought I'd only see it in passing.
Driving by, drowning in memories.
Zephyr
I went back with my class.
It had only been a season or two since I'd played here.
I was still filled with nostalgia
I was scared here in the past, but I learned,
and it all seemed to work out.
I was scared in the present, too, but I remembered the past,
and, what do you know, it all worked out.
Zephyr
No one understands how much that field brings back to me.
Not even my closest friends see any meaning there.
My class just walked through, asking who plays here.
I watched as they said to stay off the field, right next to third base.
I walked through the dugout area with them.
Third base, where I was told to steal, told I needed to slide.
The dugout area, where I had too many memories to count.
Memories better than school had ever given me.
Zephyr
Who knows when and if I will ever come back.
What the circumstances will be.
All I know is that field has seen me in so many ways,
With so many different types of people.
It has seen my mind in so many conditions.
Although I think it would still recognize me,
Seeing my fear of doing anything wrong in all that I do.
But otherwise it might say I'm improving.
Zephyr
You are part of my past.
Zephyr
That field meant more to me than I would have known
Or would have guessed,
If I hadn't ever gone back,
To see how that was the same,
Even if everything had changed.

I'm planning on getting as many poems as I can in this, but it will probably come to a bit of a standstill in the summer with not much to write about. I will try and update my other stories more often, however, so you could watch out for those...
