prologue.

chapter zero | the after

i stood on the heels of my feet, an anxious habit i always had.
i couldn't wrap my head around what i saw.
i couldn't find the strength to utter out any word, nor could anyone else.

my hands found the edge of the table behind me, i gripped my hands onto it tightly, for the fear that i'd faint.

everyone looked at me.
my heart dropped to my feet, my inhales and exhales becoming louder and heavier each time i'd breathe.

"millie, do you know something about this?"

i stared around at everyone's saddened expressions and clenched fists.
i could hear my heart beat in my ears, getting faster and louder by the second.

"i didn't kill sophia lillis," i spoke quickly, my tone shaky.

finn stepped in closer to me, an inch or two in between us.
his eyebrows were furrowed and tears were in his eyes, only a few blinks away from slipping down his cheeks.

"that doesn't answer my question,"
