No Swimming

You all stand on the edges taking it in as I struggle in the water. See there's a "no swimming" sign and I am to abide by rules. "Just get out of the water and join us" they say, others briefly remind me that it wouldn't be worth it anyway. Too hard, too easy. Mockery.

My life is guarded by a no swimming sign. Never allowed to live, still not allowed to die. Not once was it ever a problem until the day I was pushed into the stream.

She was alluring with her green eyes against the blue current, but I reached my hands out to save her and got drug in. I've been drowning ever since. Her black hair and thin frame mocked me for years to come until I grabbed hold of the rope that drug me to where I flail. Lost.

Sympathy, they all hold it. Though too much chlorine fills my lungs and makes me cough up my heart and soul to let them feel anything but pity. Don't save me, you'll hold the same fate as I. I can eternally promise that.

My future is guarded by a no swimming sign, you might as well leave for here I stay, drowning eternally.
