Saw you across the street,
you were so engrossed in your game,
making the butterflies in my tummy grow,
fully unaware about the girl next door.
We were inches apart from knowing each other.
As time passed by, we found our own distractions,
making us strangers even when we were neighbours,
Oh, how the hopeless me longed for a chance,
a chance to get to know the people around her,
specifically, a chance to get to know you.
Soon enough the chance much awaited came to an end,
but it wasn't the same from your side, as it was to me,
As days passed, a tinge of regret and sadness grew more,
making me want to give up on this feeling, making me
question, why do I hurt myself like this so much?
You showed no signs of reciprocating the same feeling,
taking that as an answer, I start to walk away,
in the hopes of you realizing everything you didn't do,
going far away from my thoughts, feelings, memories, you.
We were inches apart, making everything blurry.
Sincerely,
The girl next door
