~Bertholdt's POV~
The campus golf cars drove by the campus grounds steadily, patrolling the pouring grounds that everyone fled from. Checking my phone, the weather should last until tomorrow morning. I looked back up outside of the café window, the campus security picking up students and taking them to their dorms, I'm assuming. All except one person from afar, dressed in all red and black, moving slowly for the weather conditions. What's with them? I'd be running if I were them, getting a cold from the rain is shit.
Looking back at my phone, it started to blare **FLASH FLOOD WARNING. STAY ABOVE SEA LEVEL ON HIGH GROUNDS. FROM 14:00 07/02 TO 06:00 08/02 THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE UNSAFE.**
Suddenly, everyone else's phone blared with the same message until the 'ok' button was pressed. Is it really that serious?
I looked back down at my phone, and outside through the window, the same person walking nonchalantly as the skies grew darker and the water heavier. They've gotta be nuts. I stared back at my phone, the time moving slowly. Shoving my phone in my pocket securely, I opened the glass door and opened up my sturdy umbrella. The wind slapped me in the face harder than my mother had when I cursed at her for the first time. My skin, awakening rapidly from the harsh winds and relentless cold—so much that I was no longer sweating. I moved quickly as possible to the person in red and black.
"Hey!" I screamed over, they didn't seem to hear me. The wind was loud and unwavering.
I moved closer and quicker. "HEY!" I shouted again, louder this time.
They stopped, only a few metres away, and they turned around, shivering and with only their eyes exposed. Time stopped for me there. Her eyes, greyer than the sky that torments us. Her cheeks were flushed giving her a beautiful complexion and her body shaking yet, her eyes still and unbothered from the predicament. For what felt like forever, was a mere few seconds, and another second too long of staring and not speaking.
"What." She stated and asked.
My mouth moved but no sounds came out. "Uh." I stammered, "I-I was wondering-" I forgot, she can't hear me in this weather. "I WAS WONDERING—IF I COULD WALK YOU TO YOUR DORM HALL—THE WEATHER'S PRETTY BAD OUT HERE!"
"Pretty bad huh?" She asked.
"Uh..YEAH!?..."
She chuckled and decided to come under my umbrella.
"That would be an understatement" she added, approaching me casually.
As she came closer, my heart beat faster. I haven't ever felt this way before, especially about a stranger...who is she? Why is she making me feel this way?
I had thought too long, we weren't moving and she was already under my umbrella by now.
"Uh?" She said, looking up at me with those glossy grey eyes. "I don't think staying here will get me to my dorm?"
"Uhh—oh-right! Uhm—where's your dorm?!" I hesitantly replied, quickly trying to recover from the awkwardness.
"Shiganshina Hall, not too far from here. It's right next to the popular Korean food cart that everyone gets those spicy chicken salads from."
"Oh! I know where that is and yeah...I had their salad once and it was good I—just uh, I'm allergic to wheat and they used croutons so...it was not a pretty scene."
She heard and listened, but had no imminent reaction to this, as I tried to make conversation.
"How unfortunate." She commented, not looking up as we still walked.
"Haha..y-yeah..." I didn't know what to say and honestly, she made me nervous.
All I know is that at this point on, I want to know everything about her...I want to date this girl.
Just as soon as I can find out her name...
