Chapter Three
The sun’s rays hit Amelia’s purple curtain’s and made her room glow. She sat up in her bed and rubbed her nose.
Tuesday. Yesterday she punched Holly in the face, without recollection. She had been suspended for a day. Luckily she didn’t get expelled. After an hour of arguing with Mr. Harington about if she remembered doing it, he pitied her and gave her one day of OSS.
Morty sat up beside her and sniffed the air. Amelia patted his head and slipped out of bed. The smell of pancakes and sausage filled her nose as she ran down stairs.
“Good morning sunshine” Shawn was standing at the stove, spatula in hand, with a smile painted on her tan face. She was a jovial character. Always joking, never said a harsh word to anyone. She had long red hair and freckles, sorta like a ginger. She was plump and short, with plush cheeks and a smile that stretched from here to Texas. She was Amelia’s confidant, her mentor.
“Morning, whatcha cookin’?” Amelia found her place at the bar and crossed her arms on the counter.
“Oh, just some pancakes and sausage biscuits. Is your father awake?” She turned back around to her skillet.
“I’m not sure. I seen his jacket hanging up at the door, he must still be upstairs” Amelia grimaced.
“He’s so lazy sometimes.” She grinned at Amelia. “So why are you suspended?” curiosity laced her voice.
“This girl at school was picking on me and I punched her in the nose” She thought of Cody for a second. How he took up for her.
“Well, what did she do exactly?” She picked the skillet up with her mitted hand and brought it over to the bar.
“She flipped my lunch tray up and soup got all over my new dress” she got off the bar stool and got four plates out of the pantry. She sat them on the bar and opened a drawer to get some silver ware.
“The one with the bow?” She laid three pancakes on each plate, then gently opened the biscuits with her fat hands.
“Yes. She made me so mad. Co-.. This guy was taking up for me. He said he was my friend.” a small smile crossed her lips then vanished.
“Hmmm.. Sounds like someone has a crush” She handed Amelia the syrup and distributed the biscuits.
Amelia’s mother, Lisa, walked in wearing a little black dress, with her hair pinned up. Amelia favored her mother more than her father. Lisa’s eyes are an icy blue with a spray of freckles on her nose and cheeks. She is very fair skinned, and rather pale. Her frame is slender and tall, just like Amelia. The only difference is her brunette hair color. They were often mistaken as twins in public.
“Hey you little trouble maker, How did you sleep?” her mother smiled at her and grabbed a plate.
“I slept good. I just wish Holly hadn’t ruined my dress. The one you bought me.” she secretly felt bad, because her mother spent so much money on that dress for her to stain it beet red a day later.
“Its fine honey, don’t worry about it.” Lisa looked at Amelia with pleading eyes and saw Mark out of the corner of her eye.
She jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck, grinning. She looked into his eyes and kissed him. Amelia was happy that her parents were madly in love with each other. They were passionate. She loved it.
