Last time on 'The Deal':

She was sitting on the couch in the living room, her hands intertwined together covering her mouth. Sylvia and Jonah shared a look before walking over to the troubled female. "Everything will be okay, we'll help you" Sylvia softly said patting the worried mother's back.

"Thank you, both of you. I really appreciate it, but I'm worried that I won't find a good lawyer..." Stephanie said sitting up straight.

"I'm a lawyer. I can be your lawyer for this case!" Sylvia excitedly said, wanting to help. "Could you really?" Stephanie asked with hope, "Of course! You can count on me!".

Nayeli's POV

"State your case" The judge said as a clear voice could be heard from the next room.

A unknown man peeked in, closing the door after looking inside. I was with a policeman who Mommy told me to stay with. Sitting on a chair alone, I looked down at what I had with me.

All that mommy packed for me was my favorite book, Ruby Red, and some green grapes cut in half.

The policeman smiled at me before sitting in front of me, "Hello there, what's your name?".

"Nayeli" I said to the policeman looking at my book after I answered, I didn't want to talk.

"That's a very pretty name" The policeman said not understanding I didn't want to chat.

I closed my book and looked at the policeman, 'Mommy told me to be nice'. Just as I was about to speak, I hear mommy's voice on the TV.

"He isn't a good father! He's a bitch who doesn't care about anything but his own pleasure! He's a horrible ba—" Mommy yelled making me turn to the TV worried.

"Please calm down" The lady in the black robe, who I think is the judge, said as she slammed her hammer.

I sat on my chair watching the TV. Every once and a while, you could hear Jasper's or mommy's voice yelling.

The more yelling I heard, the more I ate my grapes. When all my grapes were gone, I quietly sat staring down. The room was filled with the voices of the TV. I start to feel a heavy stare from the policeman.

'The policeman is looking down at me, I can feel it', I thought as I gripped my book, hard. I looked up at the policeman, seeing an all to familiar expression.

"Are you okay?" The policeman asked as he lowered to my eye level, "You probably don't understand what's happening, huh?".

"Only an idiot wouldn't understand what's happening, which I am not" I shot back with no expression on my face yet my tone was laced with anger. The policeman seemed to be shocked by my comment.

Before they could say anything to me, a knock at the door was heard. The door opened to the unknown man from before, "They want to hear from the girl now".

I stood up and started to walked out with the policeman following me, still a bit shocked.

I was escorted to the witness stand, or that's what I heard it was called. Being short, the policeman put a booster seat on the chair.
