Chapter 15: Practicing for the "X" Games

Jamie and Max were going back and forth on the half pipe with a crowd of people, watching and cheering. Even when they were going toward the middle, they would hold hands, spin around a couple of times, and let go and keep skateboarding.

"Yeah! Excellent, guys!" PJ cheered after Bobby gave a high five to both skateboarders.

As this kept going, no one noticed Goofy coming up, still in a dreamy daze of asking Sylvia out.

"I got a date. Ah-yuck! I got a date. Gotta tell Maxie," he said, then spotted him on the half pipe with Jamie, "There he is."

He then stepped on the half pipe and Max and Jamie were heading towards him!

"Maxie! I got a..." Goofy started until Max rammed into him and Jamie went past both of them.

Father and son went up in the air as Goofy held on for dear life.

"Let go, Dad!" Max demanded.

When they came back down, Max fell off and Goofy kept going. Max passed out off the half pipe and Jamie got off and went to him in a hurry.

"Max, are you okay?" she asked.

"Yeah. I'm okay," he answered as she helped him up.

Now when Goofy kept going on the skateboard, he started doing some cool tricks that the Gammas even took a liking to.

"Hey, that guy is good!" one member exclaimed.

"Isn't that Baby Goof's old man?" Bradley wondered.

When Goofy was in the air one last time, he opened his jacket out like a cape and the part of his pants that were around his ankles acted like parachutes as he landed and the crowd went wild.

"Wowee!" Goofy cheered.

"Gimme that," Max said, snatching his skateboard back.

"That sure was a heap of fun. Now I see why you're so crazy about it. Hey, Maxie, what if I join your team? We could practice together, and wear them funny outfits and everything. It'd be a lot of fun," Goofy suggested.

Max was taken back by this. He didn't want Goofy on his team, especially after he let Jamie join.

"Dad, as fun as that sounds, there are no more openings on my team. Okay?" Max responded.

"'No more'? Did you ask someone else?" Goofy asked, a little hurt.

"Yeah. The guys and I asked Jamie to be on our team before you came and that's all we need," Max answered.

"Sorry, Goofy," Jamie apologized.

Goofy watched sadly as his son and the others walked off that he didn't see Bradley come up to him.

"Mr. Goof! Your performance was, without a doubt, the most breathtaking display of alternative sport inventiveness yet to be paralleled by mankind!" Bradley exclaimed.

"Gee! Ah-yuck. Thanks. Whatever you said," Goofy replied, mumbling the last part.

"The Gammas, the number one team in the history of the College "X" Games, have an opening on our team. And it has got your name on it, buddy! Be a winner. Join us," Bradley offered.

"Hey, welcome to the team," Tank said.

Max, Jamie, PJ, and Bobby took notice to this.

"That's real nice of you to ask, but I'm really only interested in stayin' close to Maxie," Goofy declined.

"Uh, I'm not sure you understand this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Bradley tried to convince.

"Well, ah-yuck, I'm not sure you understand the bond between a father and his son," Goofy said.

"Guys, I have a plan," Max smirked.

"Well, if you change your mind, here's my card. Gammas, let's pack it up," Bradley replied, handing Goofy a card.

"Gawrsh," Goofy responded.

That's when Max and the others approached Goofy.

"Listen, Dad, next to our team, the Gammas are the team, and they need you more than we do," Max remarked.

"Oh, yeah, Mr. Goof. The Gammas are like way hot, man," PJ added.

"Besides, you'll still be around Max at practices and events all the time," Jamie assured.

"You'll have oodles of fun!" Bobby exclaimed.

"Well, son, if you say so," Goofy said.

"Go for it, Dad," Max convinced him.

"Hey, uh, Mr. Uppercrust, you can count me in," Goofy told Bradley once he caught up with the Gammas.

They cheered at the fact Goofy agreed to be on their team.

"Gentlemen, please. Gamma Brother Goofy, let me present you with your Gamma Mu Mu pledge pin. Gammas, exit," Bradley stated, giving Goofy a badge.

As they started leaving, Goofy looked at his pin with a questionable look.

"Gamma Brother Goofy!" Bradley called.

Goofy followed and as he did so, the four freshmen cheered.

"Whoo, yeah!" they said.
