An Extremely Goofy Movie (Max X Jamie)

Chapter 9: Jamie and Max Getting Coffee

Jamie and Max finally made it in line to get the drinks.

"How can I help you two?" the barista asked.

"What do you want?" Max wondered.

"A grande cappuccino," Jamie replied.

"We'll have four grande cappuccinos," Max answered.

"That'll be $16.32," the barista said.

Max dug through his pocket to get the cash until Jamie told him, "I got this."

She handed the barista the money and told her to keep the change. They went off to the side to wait for their drinks.

"You didn't have to do that," Max said.

"I know. I wanted to thank you somehow for letting me be on your team for the "X" Games," Jamie explained.

"Well, I appreciate that. Thanks," he responded.

"No problem," she assured then asked, "So are you excited about college?"

"Yeah. I couldn't wait to leave home," Max answered.

"Overprotective parents?" Jamie guessed.

"Overprotective dad. I don't have a mom," he replied.

"I'm sorry. I used to have the same problem but with my mom," she said.

"No dad?" Max asked, she shook her head, then he remarked, "Now I'm sorry."

Jamie smiled and asked, "So is he strict or just overbearing?"

"'Overbearing' is an understatement. He likes to baby me. A lot," he explained.

"Sounds better than what I went through. My mom and I used to fight constantly because she was super strict on a lot of things. But when I graduated high school, that was a turning point for both of us. That was the best summer I've ever had. And it almost made me cry leaving home. But I'm still glad to be here and make some new friends," Jamie said.

"That's really cool. My dad and I have our moments where we actually bond and I don't worry about him making a goof of himself. But most of the time, it's embarrassing," Max explained.

"Alright. Four grande cappuccinos," the barista announced.

They got their drinks as they smiled at each other.
