(Story I wrote to get ideas... mission failed. No I ended up with another unfinished story)

I was walking down the hall, replaying the scene from earlier in my head.

***

I was headed to my 5th period English Class when a deep voice interrupted my train of thought. "Where are you headed?" he asked through his husky voice. "I'm headed to English class, duh!" I said turning to face him. "And you should be headed there too" I added, noticing his empty hands. "Oh, I'm going" He replied, grinning. "You know that if you're late to English again the school will contact your parents, right?" His body stiffened, "And, if your parents find out that you've been missing classes, they won't allow you to play on the basketball team" His forest green eyes widened as his face became pale, "And if THAT happens, it's bye-bye College funds." I smiled. He stared off into the distance a minute or two before shaking his head and returning to his former colour. He grinned "This is why I'm so crazy for you" He said in a low voice. I rolled my eyes. "And THIS is why you're making me crazy!" I said with a chuckle and continued my path to English class. "And go grab your stuff quickly or you'll be late!" I yelled over my shoulder. I heard a faint laugh from behind me and smiled. I didn't know why I was smiling...was it...him..?

I shook my thoughts out of my head and pressed onward towards the library. During lunch hour, I always head to the library to get in the whole hour studying. My short auburn hair swayed near my shoulders and my glasses balanced on the bridge of my nose, I am the definition of Geek. My plaid shirt was slightly oversized for me and my faded denim skinny jeans were very flattering. I was wearing my sapphire belt and blue converse shoes. What kind of crazy person would ever find me attractive?

Suddenly, a hand grasped my forearm and lead me to a door. He was wearing a grey hoodie and black sweatpants, but I already knew who it was. My heart pounded with fear and my stomach twisted into a knot as he lead me into a janitors closet. "Markus, I really don't have time for this." I mumbled as I readjusted my glasses. He closed the door behind us and became incredibly conscious of my surroundings. A dusty broom, old paint cans, a hammer, a box of 0.8 inch nails, a bottle of febreeze, boxes of garbage bags, a step ladder and a thick coat of dust coating the contour of all the objects on the flimsy metal shelves. "How did  you know it was me?" he asked, sounding amused. "There's only one person who is crazy enough to pull me into a janitors closet during lunch hour" I said with a chuckle. He grinned "Like I said before, I'm only  crazy 'bout you" He replied. I rolled my eyes and grinned. "Stop with the pick-up lines, they don't work on me" I giggled. "Hmm, are you suuuuuuuure?" He drawled in a teasing voice. I playfully punched his arm. "Stop being so weird" I smiled. "Why did you drag me into this closet anyway?" I questioned, crossing my arms. His gaze shifted to the floor and it fell silent in the small janitors closet. "What's wrong badboy, cat got your tongue?" I teased. His brown shaggy hair fell over his eyes. "Heyyy, are you okay?" I asked, a bit concerned. He looked up, his eyes meeting mine. His eyes were full of emotion, a feature that one solemnly saw in Markus Gray. His gaze was full of compassion and... longing. My heart pounded and I became uneasy, not wanting to be at this close proximity of him while he felt this way. Markus was the same height as me, making it impossible to avoid his deep gaze. A different emotion flashed before his eyes... sadness. This was something that no one, including me, had ever seen in Markus. His head dropped, breaking our gaze as he stared at the floor with clenched fists, wanting to erase all memory of him having emotions. I felt sympathetic of him. I took a deep breath as I took a step forward to face him. I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him for the first time and catching him off-guard. I smiled against his shoulder as I felt his pulling me closer. "Thank you" He breathed into my ear, sending a chill down my spine. All feeling of insecurity melted away. I slowly let him go, taking a step back. "So..." I continued, "why did you pull me into s janitors closet anyway?" I asked cautiously. He smiled, "Well...To be honest with you..." He took a deep breath on pressed on, " I wanted to kiss you without anyone watching us..." He said slowly. I grinned, "Haha, good joke. O.K. but really why did you drag me in here?" He looked at me in confusion. "Um... that IS why I brought you here... it wasn't a joke..." He said simply. My knees became weak and my head was spinning. I took a seat on the dusty step ladder, taking deep breaths. "Are you... serious?" He nodded. "this isn't some kind of prank?" He paused and I playfully punched him. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I swear this isn't a prank, I promise." He chuckled. I stared at him blankly. My hair swung in front of my face and my cheeks flushed red. He tucked my hair behind my ear while he looked me in the eye. "The only problem is," he whispered as he leaned in, "if I kissed you, I don't think I'd be able to stop"

Time seamed to slow as his face approached mine. I felt like I was stuck in a fantasy... or a nightmare. Just as I felt his breath brush against my lips, the door behind him swung open. "Hey, what are you doing here!?" A voice boomed. Bright light blinded my eyes as Markus swiftly turned around. "What are YOU doing here!?" Markus barked at the other high school student. I didn't know who it was, all I knew was that I had to get out of there. I pushed past Markus and ran down the hall as fast as I could, hearing footsteps coming from behind me. As the footsteps faded away, I stopped running. I turned left down the hall, immediately stopping and pressing my back against the wall. My heart pounded as memories of the scene flashed before my eyes. How had this day become so embarrassing??? I placed my hands over my eyes, wishing that I could become invisible.

As I think back, I remember walking to the library with my pencil case and sketch book in tow... looking at my empty hands, it didn't take long to realise that, during the confusion, I had accidentally left it behind in the janitors closet. Thoughts swirled through my head as a shadow hung over me. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked. I slid to the floor, my back pressed against the wall, and crossed my arms on my knees. "I'm fine" I mumbled. "Is this seat taken?" He asked, gesturing to the space on the floor next to me. I shook my head and he sat down beside me. I didn't want to look up, I didn't want to look at him after what had happened. After a long moment of silence, he whispered "I'm sorry." "It wasn't your fault" I mumbled, trying to make things seem better. He sighed. "I shouldn't have brought you into the janitors closet, and I'm sorry" He whispered. "Like I said, it's fine" I mumbled again. "Then why don't you look me in the eye and say that" He stated in a flat tone. I sighed and raised my head turning to face him. Once I opened my eyes, I realised how close he had gotten to me. I looked him in the eye, saying "It's fine". A faint smile played at his lips as he wrapped and arm around my shoulder.
