This is the story of the time I royally fucked up.

Christmas break marked the one month point in my relationship with Zeke. We were sort of dating, but I refused to let him kiss me again. I had somehow managed to dodge him every time he tried to lean in because that shit felt wrong for some reason. Lily had an absurd theory that I was only dating Zeke to avoid my feelings for Sirius. While that could be true in some aspects, especially considering the fact that I didn't have any romantic feelings for Zeke, I didn't believe it. That's why I refused to actually label Zeke as my boyfriend. He couldn't be my boyfriend if I didn't actually like him that way.

But none of that mattered when my parents informed me that we had to go out of town to see my least favorite relatives.

"I really am sick, Mum," I coughed, grabbing a tissue to wipe my nose.

"I don't want to see them either, but-"

I cut her off with a loud, painful cough. Her face immediately shifted into an expression of sympathy. I could tell that I had almost won her over.

"I suppose you can stay home this one time," she said, running her fingers through my hair. "I'll give my regards to Aunt Belsphaba and Uncle Trudence for you."

"Don't sound too enthusiastic," I joked.

I watched through the open door as she broke the terrible news to my father and Cygnus. My father nodded his head in understanding, but Cygnus gave me a small glare. He could probably tell that I was faking it. I waved goodbye and watched as they left. As soon as they were safely gone, I took the charm off of myself and grabbed the pre-made invitations from underneath my pillow.

"Pardalis, you have a lot of work to do," I said to the owl. "Make sure Potter and Black know first. I need those assholes over here as soon as possible."

With a decisive squawk in my general direction, he flew out of my window, beginning the spiral into one of the worst decisions I've ever made.

••••••••••••••••••

Music. Lights. Alcohol. Drugs. Bad decisions. It was all the making of a typical teenager-filled party.

James stumbled over to me, his drink sloshing all over his blue shirt. I grinned at him as I downed another shot. I made my way over to his side, an uncontrollable smile on my face.

"You having fun, J?" I slurred, grabbing onto his shoulder to stabilize myself.

James laughed loudly, drawing attention from a group of girls standing nearby. "Your parties are always the best, Ice."

"I know what I'm doing-"

"Cassio."

I turned around to find the serious voice speaking. The movement threw me off balance, and James had to grab my waist to keep me from falling into the crowd of people on the dance floor. The "dance floor" was actually just my living room, but my mum didn't need to know that.
