Even though I had already apologized to my brother, I pestered James and Sirius about finding ways to make it up to him. They were mostly unhelpful, as usual, and they offered no real advice to help the situation. Granted, James was an only child while Sirius's only brother hated his guts. Maybe they weren't the best people to go to for advice about siblings. Eventually, I decided to engage him in some sort of rebellious activity to bring us closer together such as sneaking him out of the castle and into Hogsmeade.

"Trust us. This is the best way there," James boasted as we led them down the corridor to the statue of the one-eyed witch.

I glanced around to make sure that the hallway was empty. Aside from James, Sirius, Phae, Cygnus, and I, no one appeared to be in this section of the castle. Sirius pulled out his wand and turned to the hump of the statue.

"Dissendium," whispered Sirius, tapping the statue with his wand.

The hump opened up, allowing a somewhat small space to appear. I ushered Cygnus and Phae forward.

"You guys get to go first since you're the youngest," I grinned.

James helped Phae into the opening first. After waiting a moment for Phae to slide far enough ahead, he helped Cygnus in as well. I knew I was next since I was the shortest. James helped me up into the opening which only showed darkness beneath me. I looked over my shoulder to grin at the boys before I pushed myself forward. The slide itself was incredibly uncomfortable. The boys and I suspected that the slide was made out of stone considering that it left some bruises the next day.

I landed on the damp earth, stumbling and falling forward from the force. I groaned and rolled over onto my back, taking notice of the light that Phae and Cygnus were providing from their wands. Before I could pull myself off of the ground, Sirius slid out of the tunnel and fell on top of me. I gritted my teeth, attempting to hold back the profanity that almost slipped out of my mouth.

"Sirius!" I exclaimed, unpinning my right arm and slapping his back.

"It's not my fault you were just laying at the end of the slide," he complained.

He sat up a little so that our faces were several inches apart. In the dim lighting, I could barely make out his grey eyes, but I could feel their stare burning into my skin. Unfortunately, James came hurtling out of the slide before Sirius could stand up. He landed on Sirius, once again effectively squishing me into the cool soil. This time, I allowed myself to swear.

"What the actual fuck, James?" I groaned, hardly able to breathe under the weight.

"How was I supposed to know that you two would be lying here?" he exclaimed.

Sirius pulled his head back up to make exasperated eye contact with me. Our faces were even closer this time; I could feel his breath fanning across my face. Something about this closeness seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place a finger on it. However, James stood up clumsily, causing Sirius to pull away from me. I couldn't help but feel disappointed as James pulled Sirius to his feet. I pushed myself up, taking Cygnus's hand and standing up. I quickly brushed the dirt off of my back.
