Carl loves going out of the gates of Alexandria. With everything going on around him, being alone has helped. Not to mention every time he does go out, he finds books to add to his collection. Today, Carl went out to the woods again to read. He saw many beautiful sights and found a couple of books per usual. When Carl got to his spot, he saw someone who shouldn't be in his spot at all. His heart sunk at the realization of who it was.

This person and Carl sometimes don't get along very well. Before Rick killed his dad, everything was fine between the two. He liked Carl and Carl liked him back, as friends of course. Now, everything is different. He and Carl hardly talk and when they do, it's only a few words. Both doubt things will go back to the way they were.

Carl knew it wasn't his fault, but he can't do anything about it. He doesn't really want to either. This person has always been complicated. From the beginning, Carl couldn't really understand why it was so difficult to be comfortable around him. So he set boundaries. Over time, Carl knew which lines to not cross. By the way things were, this person knew the same.

Now with the death of his father, there was a new set of boundaries and once again, it was difficult for Carl to figure out what those boundaries were. It caused a lot of problems rightfully so. Deep down this person doesn't blame Carl, but every time he sees him, he sees Rick. He can't stand Carl anymore.

After a couple of seconds this not so mysterious person realizes Carl was there.

"Uh hey Carl. What are you doing here?" Ron puts down his comic book slowly. Carl takes note that Ron stole it from his room. Something's up.

"I was just about to ask the same question." Carl says with his belongings in his arms. By the looks of it, Ron has been here for while. Sweat beads roll down his forehead and his lips are chapped. It makes Carl question just how long he has been here.

"Well I asked first." Ron said with a small smirk.

"I always come here to read. Why are you here?" Carl has the same smirk plastered on his face.

"I don't think I'm gonna answer that right now. Come sit down." Ron scoots over so there's space for Carl.

Carl hesitates for a moment before sitting down. The pair didn't say a word to each other after that. They both kept on reading and minding their own business. The reason why Rob was here was still on Carl's mind. He was going to ask eventually. A few minutes pass before Carl decides to ask his question.

"Hey Ron." Carl says looking at his shoe

"Hhm?" Ron says looking up from his book to face Carl.

"You never told me why you were here. You never come to the woods. Especially alone." It's true. It was always only Carl until now.

"Not to sound like a creep but I've noticed that you leave Alexandria every day. For a while I've been meaning to ask why, but I kinda figured it out. " It was awkward to say, but Ron didn't want Carl to think anything else.

"Oh." Carl really didn't know what to say. An hour ago, Ron didn't even look his way as he was leaving Alexandria.

"Is that all you're gonna say?" Ron looks down at his closed comic, not knowing if he ruined everything.

"No, I'm just surprised. Ron I thought you hated me." Carl laughs quietly in order to lighten the mood. He knows it worked when he sees Ron smile.

"I don't hate you Carl, and I know I've been taking my anger out on you. I don't mean to, but being around your dad lately has made me so angry all the time." He stops for a moment to fully face Carl. Carl does the same. "Today I knew you were coming here again, so I came here to say sorry."

Carl's eyes go wide for a second. He never expected an apology. Especially one like this. It never crossed Carl's mind that Ron was going to apologize while being here. His first thought was that Ron was going to attack him. Carl doesn't plan on telling Ron that he has a knife inside of his boot.

Carl starts laughing. He didn't mean for it to loud, but this whole situation is funny. Confused, Ron joins in the laughter before shoving Carl.

"Stop, I was being sincere you asshole." Ron continues laughing along with Carl. A couple of seconds later they settle down.

"Sorry, sorry." Carl falls back onto the log they were leaning on. His face is full of content.

"There's more." Ron stated facing Carl. With how happy Carl looks right now, he's not even sure he wants say it.

"You don't have to apologize for anything else dude. It's fine." Carl takes off his hat so he can lay his head comfortably. He makes sure to have it close to him.

"No, I'm not apologizing. Can you sit up please?" Ron looks timid. He's relieved Carl can't see him right now.

Carl opens his eyes and furrows his eyebrows. He sits up without putting his hat on. Once again, he moves it closer to him. Leaves and tiny branches are stuck in his hair which makes things way harder for Ron.

"Is it that serious?" Carl asks. Ron nods without making eye contact. He starts panicking when he looks at Carl. He couldn't decide if he should say it or not. "Ron?"

"I like you." Ron says quickly. Silence falls between the two. The only noice that could be heard were the birds chirping happily. A blush spreads across Carl's face.

"What?" Carl sits up straighter and looks at Ron. His face along with his ears are extremely red.

"You don't have to say anything...or do anything. I just wanted to let you know or something." Ron unconsciously moves away from Carl.

Carl noticed and scoots closer to him. Closer than before. Unexpectedly, he leans in and kisses Ron. Ron doesn't hesitate and kisses back. Carls hands moves slowly to lay on Ron's. He felt Ron's hands get hotter. Carl releases the kiss and Ron still felt Carl's lips on his.

"We'll work on it, okay?" Carls says while squeezing Ron's hands. Ron nods, happier than ever.

"Okay."
