She needs a lover to escape her father and mother
She hopes for some other way out of the hole

She's prim and proper, comes from a wealthy home. Strict parents dressed in sweater vests while listening to classical music. She has tennis practice in an hour. She wants to go see this bad boy she's been dreaming of for months. She wants a way out of this pretty hell hole per parents created.

She's over achieving, chasing her dreams
And coming down slowly, yeah it's out of control

She gets good grades, most call her an over achiever. She does it all to please her parents. A lawyer  is what her parents want her to become - they've wanted her to be one for so long that it's technically her dream too. They seem to think she wants the same. She's going down this pretty hill slowly filled with expectations and standards and it's no longer pretty.

A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh

She screams in her room often she lets out all her anger - thinking no one can hear her.

Scrap the blues if the blues don't work
Flash your teeth though the inside hurts

She smiles even though it hurts - oh it hurts like hell. Everyone thinking she's happy when she's a beautiful germ infested sad girl.

A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh

She screams when her parents leave to their 5 star dinner with their Gucci on every Friday night.

Scrap the blues if the blues don't work
Doesn't make you feel better, just makes others feel worse

Put the Saturday blues to sham when you couldn't attend the crazy high party you wanted to because your parents done want you to smoke or drink because hell, that's a sin. You might as well sell your soul to the devil. Going to this part doesn't make her feel good and neither her friends. It just makes both parties feel worse.

All in the books and all in her blood
And nowhere to run, cause it's out of control

All the books she reads isn't what she wants, she wants to read classic romance novels all day  but instead she's stuck reading law books, She's got no where to run but she's running somewhere.

You wait for something to undo these feelings
Waiting and waiting but it's out of control

She's waiting for the right guy, to break her free. Free from her parents, free from law books, free from strict rules, free from pressure to do exceptionally well in college - free from everything she doesn't want to be.

A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh
Scrap the blues if the blues don't work
Flash your teeth though the inside hurts
A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh

Scrap the blues if the blues don't work
Doesn't make you feel better, just makes others feel worse

A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh
A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh

It never is enough
No, it never is enough

It never is enough
No, it never is enough

What she does will never be enough - "Our daughter is looking like a failure"
