Chapter Seven

"Alexander," Thomas whispered, the early morning taking a toll on John. The freckled man was sprawled out as well as he could be with a seat belt on. "You mind switchin' with me? I'm out of it."

"I... I am not sure I know how to drive." Alexander spoke, almost ashamed of himself not being able to know something a human child does. Thomas chuckled, pulling to the side of the empty road. Alexander did not like Wyoming. It is boring and cold, but Alexander felt fire inside of him when Thomas rubbed the small of his back as they passed each other. Readjusting the chair to match his short body. "Where do I start?"

"Okay, you put your right foot on the gas- no your other foot- and slowly press down after I move this gear stick to drive." Thomas instructed, moving the gear stick and Alexander slowly moved the car. Alexander's eyes lit up as he began driving. Thomas smiled softly at him, hand rested calmly in the palm of his hand. "Hey, Alex,"

"Am I doing well?" Thomas nodded, moving closer to him. Faces mere inches apart.

"I love you." Alexander cocked his head to the side, looking quickly between him and the road. "Do you even know what that is?"

"I-No. Do you mind explaining it to me, Thomas?" The taller chuckled, the sound deep from tiredness.

"Well, it's an emotion that you get when you feel strongly for another person." Thomas said, eyes closing softly. "It's when you'd do anythin' for another person, like they're your reason for breathin'."

"And I am this for you?" Thomas nodded. "What do normal humans do when they are in love?"

"Get married, have kids, live life, die eventually." Thomas waved his hand around. "It's supposed to be real amazin'. Almost everyone does it."

"That sounds boring." Thomas gave a quiet laugh.

"Yeah, I guess it is." He rested his head against the chair, dozing off. Alexander continued driving in silence. A light fog settling on the ground, making it hard to see. Figures ran by, trying to scare him. A flash of pink made it evident as to who the figures were. Slowly releasing his foot from the gas pedal, he moved the gear stick back to where it was before he was driving. Exiting the car and locking it. Thomas and John weren't getting hurt because of him.

"You can release the fog. I won't do anything rash." Alexander called out. Nothing happened until after a few moments of silence, the fog dissipated. The Schuyler's, an old group of dear friends for him, stood metres away. "Girls."

"Alexander, you've changed." The eldest of the three, Angelica, swooned. Thick curls pulled back from her face.

"You have too." He smirked. "You've grown horns, Angelica." She stiffened, fists made. Eliza's hands met hers. Her expression calmed.

"Washington wants to meet the human that stole Johnny Boy away." Peggy sang, a child-like expression on her face. "Same for you. Daddy dearest misses you, Lexi."

"He can't have Thomas." Alexander stood his ground, ready to summon his weapon.

"Alexander, we don't wish to fight you." Eliza's soft voice made his head turn. She was behind him, hand on the locked door. "This could easily be peaceful, let you redeem yourself and come back home- with us."

"You must be out of your goddamn mind." He spat, feeling a burning sensation in his chest. Eliza tutted, shaking her head softly. "I'm not letting you take the people I love."

"Oh," She took his chin her hands, forcing him to look up at her. "You don't even know what love is." Her eyes flicked up, signalling her sisters. "We have a job to do."

"Peggy, take John, I'll get the human." Angelica ordered. Alexander moved to attack, but Eliza's hands found his wings, pressing her nails deeply in the slits of where they were. He cried out in pain, watching his friends get captured. The fog arrived again, suffocating them this time. The air went tight as they were dragged to Hell. Alexander was numb from the pain, not aware of his surroundings.

John was terrified. He held almost no powers to fight off the sisters or any other demon that is inevitably going to see him. He'll get Thomas killed. They'll torture him eternally. Alexander can't even see left from right anymore. They were so fucked.

"Angel, Johnny's pretty cute." Peggy giggled, running her hands over his golden freckles. "Do all humans look as cute as these?"

"No, Peggy don't touch him." Angelica swore. "He's reeks of humanity."
