After class Stephie Johnson or as I like to call her Stephie the Hephie came swaying her hips in my direction. Stephie is the president of the Young Leader's Club which consists of aspiring young entrepreneurs at the University. Since the start of my freshman year, this girl had been on me for irrational reasons she deliberately goes out of her way to make me miserable.
It all started back in freshman year when we had a group assignment due for Geography 1056. Hephie did next to nothing in the group and still expected the same grade as everyone else who pulled all-nighters to get the work done. Since I was the leader of the group back then she blamed me for the low grade she received ever since that we never agreed completely.
"Hey, Ché, I'm Stephine Johnson but everyone just calls me Stephie" she uttered with a flirty motive "I'm the president of the Young Leaders Club since most of the student in here is a part of the club you should join too. It will be a great way for you to get to know everyone."
I was unsure of what she was really inviting him too, she was speaking of the club but yet tried to flaunt her ridiculous double D cup breast. She batted her eyelids like a maniac, like if she wanted to create a storm and pursed her lips liked she'd suck something sour.
To most guys in the class, Hephie was a prize possession. She wasn't your typical blonde hair barbie though she behaved so. Her hair was auburn red like the flames that burnt in the depths of hell. While her body was Victoria Secret model worthy she was not a fallen angel, the girl birth place was hell itself.
Ché's eyes shone with mischief, he seemed to be amused giving her the attention she desired. He couldn't be any more discreet about himself, Subconsciously I rolled my eyes at the sight of them both. I wanted to hit them in a place I knew would hurt the most but I'd like to think that I'm not an aggressive person.
"The first meeting of the semester is on Monday at 4:00 p.m. you should come, if you do we'll have a welcome party for you after at Dave's, a hot bar on campus." Hephie continued finally acknowledging me "You should come to Imani lol if you're not working I guess."
Hephie walked away with a sashay in her hips and an aura of accomplishment. "So, your name is Imani? That's a really beautiful name." Ché indicated.
"Mhmm" I sounded couldn't bother to formulate a sentence.
He called my name beautiful and I instantly felt queasy, I was cloyed. The irony in my name was too much for me sometimes.Mom said when she was pregnant with me she fell ill and was in danger of having a troublesome delivery, but through it all, she and dad always had faith that everything was going to be alright.
It so happened that everything did turn out ok with minor complications, therefore when she saw me for the first time she said she held me close to her chest wept. She named me Imani meaning faith or faithful person.
But no one was ever faithful to me.
" Why so serious you're spoiling your face like that." He continued
"Spoiling my face wow thanks!" I retaliated
"I don't mean it like that. I mean that pretty girls like you should smile more often. In the limited time that I've been here, your expression didn't vary much."
I didn't bother to reply to him this time so he continued speaking.
He passed his hands through the ruffles of his hair making it even more unruly than before and said: "So are you coming to the after-party Monday?"
"No some of us have work and can't be bothered," I noted.
I exited my notes from the screen on my laptop that was on my desk, closed it and placed it gently in my bag.
