The sickening scent of fresh coffee spread throughout the break room as I drank my bottle of water and felt a slight headache begin to spread throughout my head.
I exited the room and headed to the mini classroom my mom, Catherine, and I were assigned to, the room was empty and was soon to be filled with all sorts of energetic children. Since my mother owned the daycare, she was able to put Catherine and I in a classroom with her.
My mother and I tagged along with the other teachers as we walked outside and waited for all the kids to be dropped off by their parents. Catherine was nowhere to be seen, or that's what I thought.
"Imagine all the DILFs that will start coming soon," Catherine playfully whispered into my ear as she came out of nowhere before I shot her an odd look that didn't last, I quietly laughed to myself and my mother asked me what's wrong before I shrugged it off casually.
Catherine is one of my closest friends and has been since we were in kindergarten. She was a loving and outgoing person that I couldn't potentially live without, I'm glad she took up the job with me as we both were starting our senior year of college soon and needed cash ASAP.
We continued talking about random things just before all these cars began pulling up and children piled out in a rush. Children began running around with their parents and their friends, excitedly sharing their summer experience. I smiled at the sight before helping organize the children into lines, making it easier for us to lead them to their classes. I held onto the colorful walking rope as the children grabbed onto the individual rings attached so they wouldn't get lost and was about to lead them before I felt a tap on my bare shoulder.
"Hey, how can I help you?" I smiled up at the handsome man who seemed around my age, he had bright green eyes and short hair that was pushed back. He was dressed in a red and white plaid suit with a tight white button up underneath with the top buttons undone.
I was so distracted by his beauty I couldn't hear what he said to me, I quickly apologized and asked for a second so I could pass the rope to Catherine who was also in a trance.
"Sorry, what was that, Mr..." I apologized to the mystery man who held hands with a shy little girl who was hiding behind his clothed leg.
"Styles, but you can call me Harry," his British accent pours out perfectly as he sticks his free hand out and I shake it, I shoot another smile before I crouch down to try to talk to the little girl.
"And who's this cutie? I'm Ms. Hartley, but you can call me Grace," I smiled at the little girl who carefully stepped forward towards me and away from Harry.
"Isabelle," She seemed hesitant before she attacked me with her hug and clung to my body. I almost fell backwards but luckily maintained my stance and successfully held the girl.
I stood up with the girl oddly in my arms as I turned to Harry who had a small smile on his face, his dimples were slightly on display and I felt mesmerized.
"I just wanted to introduce myself and this little princess here because she can be a bit shy and all, but I guess she's going to be fine with you," he chuckled and the heavenly sound made me smile in response and I slightly bit my lip. I smiled at the little girl in my arms who reciprocated the action before turning to Harry, who I presumed was her dad.
"So are you her father?"
"Oh no, she's actually my niece... I'm single and childless," he laughed while immediately rushing to clear up any misleading thoughts I had and I mentally noted that he was single.
