Harry leads me to his private plane, yes I said private plane. On board we sat across from each other and I watched as the place I once called home, faded from my view. Goodbye New York, hello Tennessee. I decide to listen to some music and let sleep engulf me for the remainder of the flight.
After a 14 hour plane trip in Harry's plane, we finally arrived in Tennessee. It's completely different from New York. I look out the window of Harry's black BMW and watch the burnt orange trees that shade the road.
The beautiful fields of fresh wild flowers that cover the never-ending green grass. There is vibrant green hills that separate the sky from the land and the weather is warmer here compared to New York. Everything here is different from New York. I take in a breathe of fresh air and realise that this is my chance for a fresh start. To become someone other than the orphan, mute girl who saw her family die before her eyes.
I'm curious to know more about these boys though. I take out my note book and scribble down a question, asking harry about his kids. Harry reads my question and beams.
"Well like I said before, I have 6 boys. The eldest is Alex and he's 23 and in college studying to be a psychologist, so you'll only see him on weekends. Then there's Cole he's 17 like you and he's on the school football team. Then of course there's his partner in crime, Jason who is 16, loves a good laugh and is also on the football team with his brother. Isaac and Dylan are 15 and twins. They are on the swim team and are always together. Tyler is the baby of the family and is only 5." Harry smiles to himself before looking back to me. That sounds like a busy house.
"They haven't really been the same since their mum died last year...." He trailed off. Their mum died?
"Just..... Just don't take anything to personally if they act up and give you a hard time. Okay?" I just nod. I mean I understand what they're going through. Losing a parent.
We pull up to a massive house. No scratch that, its a mansion. There's black iron gates that open up to a pearly white, three story house that looks like its entirely made of glass windows and the house itself could stretch on for miles.
The road leading up to the house is shaded by autumn kissed trees and rows of red roses. Two boys playing catch with a football out the front catches my attention as we get a closer view of the house.
"Welcome home Poppy" Harry says pulling up to the house. I open the car door to see that both boys had stopped playing ball and were staring directly at me. One had chestnut brown hair, broad shoulders and crystal blue eyes. He looked older then the other boy so I'm guessing he's Cole. The boy whom I presume to be Jason has dirty blonde hair, mossy green eyes and a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Boys come over here and meet Poppy" Harry says directing my attention back to him.
"Nah, we're good, don't need to meet your new flavour of the month" Jason mutters.
"What happened to Tiffany? Wasn't young enough for you?" Cole says smugly while Jason gives a laugh of distaste.
Both look at each other with a satisfied smirk at our shocked reactions and walk straight inside without a backwards glance at us. Harry looks at me with a embarrassed and disappoint look on his face.
"Sorry about that. They just......" he trails off. I give him a sad smile of understanding.
"I'll show you to your room. You must be tired after that flight. " I yawn and give him a thankful nod.
I follow Harry inside and proceed up the marble steps leading to a corridor of bedrooms. Harry stops at a white door with a crystal door handle. My name is written in gold cursive writing on a sign hanging off the door.
I don't know if I'd call this a bedroom though, more like an apartment maybe? The walls are a aqua blue and there is two glass doors that open to a balcony. There's a white canopy bed in the middle of the room with a mounted TV on one of the walls. I have a walk in wardrobe and my own bathroom with a claw foot bath and marble counter top with a double sink. I look over at Harry in astonishment and write down a quick thank you in my notebook.
"Your welcome Poppy, I'm just glad you like it. We'll introduce you to the boys at dinner. Why don't you have a rest and I'll come and get you when dinners ready. Feel free to explore the house if you want" Harry said before closing my bedroom door.
I can't believe that this is my room. I also can't believe those two boys! I mean how hard is it to introduce yourselves? I walk out to my balcony and just take in the view. I can see the vibrant green mountains from here. My mum would have loved this view. I really miss her you know. She wasn't just my mum but she was my best friend too.
She would comfort me when I was sad. Listen when I needed to get something of my chest and on top of it all she was the one that made me who I am today. She is the reason I'm here and she's not. She was always trying to protect me, in the end protecting me got her killed. Tears start streaming down my face as I gripped the railing of the balcony, replaying that night in my head over and over again.
I didn't even get to say goodbye. I let out a painful cry before curling up in the corner of the balcony, continuing to break down. I rock back and for a while before I hear the sound of a door opening. I look up to see a pair of blue eyes staring at me from the balcony next to mine. Cole.
"Hey, are you alright?" Cole questions with a concerned voice?
I quickly wipe the tears from my eyes and run back into my room without a single look in his direction. I quickly change into a pair of black legging and red cropped jumper before throwing myself onto the bed and slowly crying myself to sleep.
