the last week of summer break flew by. before flynn knew it, it was the first day back.
he woke up early, got changed, packed his bag and then watched some tv. he never ate breakfast. and today was no exception. he set off for his 15 minute walk to school at quarter past 8.
he got to school and headed to his locker. one of his friends, sophie, was at her locker a few rows down. she approached him, "hello stranger! how you been? i've not seen you for 6 weeks!!" sophie had 2 heavy textbooks in her hand. flynn wondered if she'd let him carry them. extra weight to carry would be extra calories burnt. "hey soph. i've been good. you?"
"yeah, fine. you heading to form now? i am."
"yeah. lets go together. bit weird to ask but can i carry your textbooks for you?"
"what?! you want to carry my textbooks? er, sure..." she handed them over.
"yeah. i just fancy holding something in my hands." flynn lied.
they walked to form in pretty much silence. they got there and fiona and harry waved them over.
fiona loosely grabbed flynn's arm, "oh my god flynn! it's been so long! you ok? you look like you've lost weight..."
"yeah, i'm good. you too? and yeah, i don't know if i have." he lied. he was glad someone had noticed his weightloss.
"yeah!"
harry gave flynn a hug, "sad that you couldn't meet with us all summer, bro. it wasn't the same without you."
"yeah. next time definitely."

the day was folding out quite quickly and before flynn realised, it was lunch.
the four of them, harry, fiona, sophie and flynn walked over to their usual table by the far window. harry and sophie went to buy their lunch while fiona got her packed lunch out of her bag.
"what you having, flynn?" asked fiona.
"i had a big breakfast...so, nothing i guess."
"you can have my crisps if you want. i don't really fancy eating them anyway."
"nah, it's okay. i'm fine."
the others ate after asking flynn that he was sure he didn't want anything. flynn tried not to watch them eat. he stared out of the window for most of lunchtime.

after lunch they had double maths, in which flynn's stomach wouldn't stop rumbling. fiona, who sat behind him in their seating plan eventually commented on it. "flynn, i thought you said you had a big breakfast? sounds to me like you're hungry."
flynn shrugged it off.

before long, maths was over and so was their first day back. flynn said no to going to the fish and chip shop with his friends, they protested but eventually let him off. the three of them went without him. he walked home.

once at home, his mother told him dinner was ready. his was in the microwave. he said he'd eat it later. he took the stairs two at a time and collapsed on his bed. he was starving. but he couldn't give into food. he just couldn't.

he went downstairs two hours later, took his food out of the microwave and scraped it into the bin. he then tore off some kitchen roll and put that on top of his food in the bin, so it wasn't noticeable if his mum threw anything else out anytime soon.

that was that. another day of not eating anything.

another day closer to thin.
