Yato's POV

I know I can be stupid at times, but I'm not oblivious; Somethings up with Yukine.
If the persistent ache spreading across the nape of my neck wasn't enough; it is also written across his face when he looks at me. It's as if he feels guilty for something..

'Yukine..' I murmur, my voice breaking through the silence; he looked anxious.
'Y-yer?' He stuttered, trying to play it off.
'You ok? You seem nervous?' I questioned as the room fell silent again. After a brief pause I continued  'If something is bothering y-'
'I'm fine, but I think dinner will be ready soon, so I should go help out'
He gave me a half hearted smile before turning around and rushing off back downstairs.
Exhaling with a sigh, I hopped down from the window ledge and slowly began to make my way downstairs.

Yukine POV

Idiot! of course he knows - and I've just lied to him... again!! I'm the worst shinki ever..
I won't forgive myself if I've stung him again and I doubt Hiyori would forgive me either.
With increasing anxiety rushing through my body I failed to notice the commotion around me. '
Yuki~' kofuku voice chimed, pulling me out of self pity and back into reality.
Realising I was just hunched over and mindlessly playing with my food, I pulled my head up to meet her gaze.
'You ok?' She asked, her calm voice bringing an end to Daikoku's and Yato's bickering.
'I'm fine, but I think I'm done with dinner. I'm going to go lie down. Thank you for the food' I smiled at her as I stood up and headed for the stairs.
Walking passed Yato I could feel his icy gaze run over me, I averted my eyes and quickened my pace.
Once I was out of site I leant again the corridor wall and sighed silently, as the conversation between them resumed.  Concentrating, I tried to make out what they where discussing before another flash illuminated through the window; which was soon replaced with a loud grumble from within the clouds. The ceiling light above me flickered as I tried to steady my heart beat.

' Kofuku, I bet this storm is your fault!' Yato accused loudly, only to be followed by an equally loud thump. I assumed from Yato's Yelp that he had just been struck by Daikoku.      'The misses didn't do anything you waste of space!' Daikoku snarled.                                                                     I smiled as the bickering resumed and I slowly made my way up the stairs.                             Trying  my best not to make a sound as every floor board  seemed to creak beneath me. I paused listening out for any break in their conversation, but it never came. After finally making it to our room, I released the breath I hadnt even realised I was holding.
With the thunderstorm grumbling above and the rain poring down, the dark of night had come early.
Flashes of lightning illuminating the room for a few seconds as I decided my next move. Swallowing my fears I made a dash for the lamp which was positioned in between our futons. Relief flushed over me as I clicked the switch and the room flooded with light.
After pulling the curtains shut I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth. The wind had picked up and I could hear the rain hitting the window as it fell from the clouds.

I returned to our room and began changing into my night clothes, well a old top and track suit trousers. I climbed into my futon hoping I could make myself fall asleep, but of course no such luck, I wasn't even tired. I was far to nervous to sleep and the heavy rain, howling wind and grumbling thundering wasn't helping either.
I closed my eyes again when I heard the bedroom door squeak open and then click closed. Yato moved quietly over to his futon, he must of assumed I was asleep , usually he would of gone out of his way to make his presence know. I could hear him unzip his jersey and put it on the floor. After some more faint rustling  he settled into his futon. I squeezed my eyelids shut awaiting the click of the lamp switch and following darkness.
After a few minutes of silence I opened my eyes and peaked out of my futon to look at Yato; he was asleep. With his back facing me I watched the raise and fall of his chest, he looked peaceful.
I tucked my self back into my futon and closed my eyes once more. I didn't have time to lay awake and wonder why he had left the lamp on, it was probably a mistake and he would wake up soon and turn it off.

Attempting to block out the sounds from the storm I could feel myself slipping into sleep....
A lightening flash light up the room and shon through my eyelids, all before being engulfed in darkness. My eyes shot open and confirmed my fears... the electricity that had powered the lamp was gone, along with the rest of my self control.
Anxiety began to over whelm me and panic was setting in. I wanted to cry out for help but I couldn't control my body enough to make a sound. All I could do was hide and hope it was all just a dream. I buried my head inside the futon, pulling it over me like a protective cocoon. Squeezing my eyes shut I struggled to control my breathing. My whole body was shaking... please let this nightmare end...

'Yukine?' A calm voice whispered 'Yukine, you ok?' That voice, it was Yato. He must have a awoken after feeling  my unease.
I opened my mouth in an attempt to call out to him, I wanted to scream or shout or anything, I just needed him to save me...
