Popee's tail was on the list of things you didn't understand, right next to Kedamono's masks and Papi himself.While The other two were minor things you rarely thought about, Popee's tail was something you've always questioned.Especially nowadays.

"Do you think we should do this one?"

"To simple"

He huffed and flipped through the book while you stretched out on the floor.He gasped and you jolted up to see what he found but he tsked and flipped to another page.You rolled your eyes and let your mind wander.Because Kedamono was busy eating and watching TV, you and popee decided to find a trick to do yourselves.It wouldn't of been so bad if it weren't for the fact that you've been looking through the book for half an hour while sitting in the sun.

To busy thinking , you hadn't realized popee's tail was near your wrist.You nearly jumped out of your skin when you felt the tail wrap around you but quickly calmed down.By the looks of it, Popee had done it subconsciously, his eyes were still glued to his book and he didn't even glance at you.

"Uh...Popee?" He turned his head and raised a brow in annoyance.You raised your hand slightly, the tail still wrapped loosely around your wrist.His tail hit the ground as he stuttered an apology while you only laughed at his embarrassed expression.

Since then it's gotten more frequent and he never notices until someone points it out.Sitting next to him? His tail is wrapped around your wrist.Standing next to him? His tail is going to be curled around your ankle.Being anywhere near him? His tail is, more than likely, brushing against you.Papi and Kedamono have taken notice of this and would give Popee knowing looks when you weren't paying attention.He's been trying his best to stop it though it's proven to be a challenge.

You and Keda were relaxing on the ground, watching Popee and Papi perform or rather Popee yell at Papi for being better at him at a trick.The onsie-wearing performer started making hand gestures at Papi before walking away, leaving the man befuddled but nonetheless he continued with his performance.Popee growled and plopped down next to you, his face red with anger as he took off his hat.You passed a drumstick to him, nodding in response to his thank you.He ate the chicken nonchalantly, trying his best to ignore Kedamono's intense stare though it wasn't directed to the chicken for once.Soon enough you were also staring at him and it became uncomfortable.

"What is it!?" Kedamono let the laugh he was holding escape and Popee was suddenly aware as to why.His tail was curled at your side rather tightly.He yelped and grabbed his tail as he stood up, walking away from the scene without even looking back.

He has been distancing himself from you and the others since this morning and while it wasn't an easy feat what with all of you being so active, he managed.He felt more relaxed at night, knowing that the others were asleep by this time and couldn't bother him.

But then he saw you.

You were sleeping on a mat in front of the TV, your usual clothes/get up replaced with pyjama pants and a t-shirt even though the temperature dropped considerably during the night.He hesitated as he went to get blankets however, more than slightly amused when he could hear you mumbling from some distance away.He sat down next to you and placed the blanket on you and wrapped a separate one on himself.He watched the screen flicker with images, trying his best to ignore your tossing and turning.

He mumbled to himself and brushed the stray strands of hair away from your face.It took him a second to realize his hand has been lingering and a second more to realize you were leaning into his touch.A small smile found its way onto his face and he brushed his thumb against your cheek, a sudden warmth spreading through him.It was at this time that he thanked the gods that Papi nor Kedamono were here to see any of this or else he would never hear the end of it.

"Your hand is really warm" He would have yelled if he hadn't choked on his own spit.

"Were you awake the entire time?"

"I was asleep for a while" You sat up with a yawn and was about to ask him why he was outside but the familiar fabric from his tail stopped you.You contemplate if you should mention it or not.

"About your tail" You giggled when you felt him reach behind you and grab his tail in a vice like grip.He looked fearful as he tried to explain but failed miserably to do so.In an attempt to calm him down you grab his arm and he immediately shuts up.

"Sorry" His voice was barely above a whisper and you smiled reassuringly while uncurling his hand from his tail.

"You don't need to be so fidgety about it...I don't really mind" You rubbed your eyes and buried your face in your blanket(Mostly to hide your burning face).You closed your eyes when you felt him relax as well, fading in and out of consciousness until you felt him put his blanket over you and lay his head on top of yours.

You weren't sure if you were supposed to hear the content hum that he made but it made you feel a little less awkward about the situation.You yawned and nuzzled your face into his side, smiling when you felt his tail around you again.Your eyes finally closed and you soon drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

That is until Popee started to snore.
