I stood there shocked at what I just heard how could Carl like me when I was so new we only talked once when I woke up

I quickly made some noise so that they knew I'd be passing the cell I went straight to my cell and rushed towards Sarge and gave him a hug 

" Hey boy guess what you get your own cell I cooed I was pretty sure Carl and Daryl could hear me but I didn't care not long after I got Sarge settled in his cell Beth came up to me

" Hey Ava Rick says you and Carl are on fence duty

" Thanks Beth hey would you mind watching Sarge outside today 

" Sure Ava I'd love to I love dogs

" Thanks Beth your the only one he or I trust you know being new and all

I was at the gate that I came through 48 hours ago

I saw a metal pole and picked it up and started sticking walkers with it I was dropping them fast

Crunch ...snap

I spun around having the pole aimed perfectly in-between Rick's eyes I lowered the pole and apologized

" Sorry Rick you scared me I said just above a whisper

" it's OK Ava I understand I was coming down to explain what to do but I see that you put it together your very smart and I have to say you put the walkers down fast your probably the fastest one here

I could feel my face turning red at Rick's statement I softly said 
" Thanks Rick before turning back to the gate

Carl came from around the guard tower " sorry dad I'm late I had to help Hershel down the stairs

God Ava was beautiful even covered in walker blood I suddenly realized that I was staring at her I quickly looked away before she caught me staring

I starting sticking walkers through the fence in hope Ava had not noticed I was staring at her

Why was Carl staring at me has he never seen someone covered in walker blood

" What I say never seen a girl covered in the undead's  blood before I let out a small chuckle

" No its not that it's just you're ...Carl stopped before finishing 

" I'm what Carl I say sticking my pole through three walkers at once

" Nothing never mind Carl said while blushing wildly

A few hours later the fence was clear of walkers For lunch I sat by Beth and Sarge we had become close since I've been here We sat outside I ate a little less then half my food and gave the rest to Sarge

" Hey Ava what do you like to do for fun or to pass time asked Beth softly with a slight hint of a southern accent

" K please don't laugh at me I'm a nerd I like to read books , comic book , and anime I said lowering my head fiddling with my fingers

" Why would I make fun I like reading books to , There was a moment of silence before Beth spoke again

" I like your boots Ava I bet it's hard for a walker to bite you

thanks Beth and I duck tape magazines to my legs and forearm's I say rolling up my sleeve to show her .

Walkers can't bite through them it's a extra step for protection I say proudly

I noticed Ava gave most her food to Sarge today so after dinner I slipped a bag with a few cookies on her bed and a Flash comic book Beth told me Ava liked to read

I heard Sarge playing with Beth and Judith I was glad that they were having fun they needed it

When I turned around I saw a picture of 3 guys I picked it up and turned it over and read

( Daddy ) left ( grandpa Bobby ) middle ( uncle Sam ) right

I quickly put the picture back and left Ava's cell

I took the mattresses off the bottom bunk and set it on the floor I quickly went to fetch my blanket and pillow off my bed when I noticed a small bag of chocolate chip cookies and what is this I thought as I lifted up a thin book realizing that it was a  Flash comic book

Hhhmmm Beth must of put these
there I thought I'll have to thank her tomorrow I thought before I slowly crawled onto the mattress with Sarge I drifted off  to darkness after eating a few cookies and reading some of the Flash

I took a quick peek at Ava as I passed I saw some cookies were missing and that her hand was on the comic

I had to resist tucking her hair behind her ear and to kiss her perfectly silk like skin even if it was covered in blood

God she was beautiful ......

What was I falling in love with her was Daryl right ?
