Taehyung woke up feeling like he was run over by a truck. He felt around from Jimin, but he felt no one. His joints were stiff and his mouth was dry, his body covered in sweat. He did not want to open his eyes and get up. But the thought that Jimin wasn't still in bed unsettled him. He usually waited for Taehyung to wake up or he woke him up himself.
Taehyung huffed, arm now slung over his eyes. "Jimin," he called in a tone just barely over a whisper. No response. He tried again. Nothing. In fact, there was absolutely no noise except those that came from him. The sudden realization that he was in absolute silence forced his eyes open, a bit of sweat making them watery. The air conditioner and fan were both off and there weren't any lights on. The sun was just barely up and creating a dim glow in Taehyung's room.
"Jimin," Taehyung nearly yelled out as the panic began to settle in. Did they lose power? Was Jimin pulling another prank on him? Had Jimin been kidnapped and help for ransom?
Taehyung snatched his phone from the charger and was disappointed to find that it was dead. He called out for his friend once more. Once again, there was no answer. Taehyung forced himself to slide his blanket off, exposing his almost naked body to whomever could have been lurking in the shadows. He reached for his house slippers, pausing momentarily to think about how much noise they made when he walked. He settled on socks instead. He took careful steps out into the hallway, peering around every corner he came to. He checked every room and closet, but there was still no sign of Jimin. His phone was on the side of the bed he slept on, his house slippers next to Taehyung's. The blanket was pulled up and tucked in as if no one had been sleeping there at all. But Taehyung remembered Jimin being there. He crawled into bed and kissed Taehyung's hair without a second thought. How could Taehyung forget? How could someone just disappear?
He was about to give up when he walked past the window, a figure startling him almost to death. His immediate reaction was to drop out of sight in hopes that he wouldn't get caught. Once he caught his breath, his mind began to process the figure. The slight glow of the sun allowed Taehyung to see that the person was turned around. Was it... Jimin?
Taehyung stood up slowly and looked back out of the window, the once standing figure now sitting and playing with long pieces of grass. Taehyung could feel the relief seep into his bones as he opened the door and crept outside into the garden.
"Oh," Jimin jumped when he saw Taehyung, "Taehyung, you scared me. Did I wake you when I came out?"
Taehyung took a seat next to Jimin. "No. I just woke up out of no where. I guess I got too hot. Why are you out here?"
"I was hot too. I figured it would be cooler out here. You weren't freaked out, right?"
"No," he lied.
"Good."
Taehyung picked a blade of grass from the dirt and twirled it in his hands. The outside air was cool against his bare chest and legs, but he couldn't bring himself to care about that.
"Taehyungie," Jimin mumbled from beside him. Taehyung almost thought he was hearing things. "What do you think happened?"
Taehyung opened his mouth, then closed it. Happened? To what? His eyebrows twitched in confusion. "Elaborate, Jimin."
The boy at his side giggled a bit before he dropped the grass and finally looked at Taehyung. "To your house. Why do you think you lost power? It's not raining; there's no sirens. Did it just... Go out?"
Taehyung took this into consideration. Why had the power gone out? He could only think of one thing. "What's today?"
"Wednesday. Why?"
