Kate searched the campus for Matilda but just couldn't seem to catch up with her. She went to the cafeteria to wait for her. She kept on quickly glancing around trying to act normal. She felt like a ten year old with a crush. She just couldn't help herself. When Matilda walked into the cafeteria Kate grinned and automatically got butterflies. She didn't notice the girl standing next to her that she was having a conversation with. When she finally noticed Scottie laughing loudly at something Matilda said, she frowned. Matilda glanced to where Kate sat and smiled as she sat down next to Scottie opposite of Kate.

"Hey Kate. What's up?" Matilda said as she looked down at her plate full of pizza. It had been three months since she had gone of her disgusting salad diet and frankly, she just didn't care anymore. She would rather run a 1000 miles rather than eat another piece of something green and leafy.

"Nothing. I was just about to head over to the gym to get in a workout. I have been kind of tipping the scales lately." Kate laughed self deprecatingly. Matilda gave her a confused look and shook her head.

"I think you look great. But if you say so. Actually I was hoping to start to work out. Want to be my trainer?" She grinned at Kate. "It's just that you look like you would know what to do about my problem areas." She smiled. Kate choked on her drink and it came out of her nose a bit. Matilda chuckled. "What is the matter with you?" She raised her eyebrows questioning.

"Nothing. Just went down the wrong pipe." Kate replied clearing her throat. "I'm ready when you are." She said and looked up at Matilda after wiping the soda off of her face with a napkin. Matilda smiled.

"Alright well. I will just grab some water." She looked at Scottie and stood. "Want to catch a movie later?" Scottie nodded. "Pick you up at eight." She smiled and kissed Scottie gently on the lips.

"Don't be late." Scottie replied and walked off to class. Matilda looked at Kate and saw the glare on her face. She flinched.

"My god Kate you look like you are about to maul someone." Matilda laughed. Kate shook the look off of her face.

"Sorry guess I was somewhere else." She smiled weakly at Matilda and stood up from the table. "Do you have gym clothes?" She asked Matilda.

"Oh. No I hadn't thought of that. Can we just stop by the dorm?" Matilda asked with an apologetic shrug of her shoulders.

"Sure. Let's hurry up though. I have class in a few hours." Kate quickly walked past Matilda and hurried to the dorm. It only took five minutes to get to the dorm and they walked it in silence. They walked into the dorm and Matilda walked past Kate to look in her drawers for something to wear. She grabbed a sports bra and looked at Kate "Do you think I could just wear this?" She asked holding up the pink bra for Kate to see. Kate nodded tightly and looked away. Matilda frowned. "Is something wrong? Because if you don't want me to go you just had to say so. You don't have to ignore me." Matilda said slamming her drawer shut. Kate had a sudden urge to throw something at Matilda. "See. I knew it. This whole sex thing has ruined our friendship hasn't it? Can we not be civil anymore? I just don't see why anything has to change." Kate let out a frustrated scream.

"It's not about sex Matilda! Not everything has to do with doing dirty things to one another. It's just a perk. Don't you see it Mattie? Can you really not feel this connection? You would rather have sex with random sluts in this school than even try to be with me." She let out a heavy sigh in frustration. Matilda glared at her and couldn't hold her temper any longer.

"And what sluts have I slept with?" She exclaimed loudly. "You haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about Kate! Don't go around assuming things. Frankly I don't like the conclusions you come to!" She yelled as she moved closer to Kate as her anger grew.

"Assuming?" Kate yelled. "I don't assume anything. It is plain as day to everyone just how well you and Scottie get along." As Kate said this Matilda flared her nostrils in anger.

"You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Scottie and I are just friends who go out sometimes. Didn't you just say a minute ago we weren't about sex? Did you ever stop to think that maybe Scottie and I weren't about sex either." Kate frowned and looked into Matilda's eyes. She seemed to search for falsehood in her eyes but found none. Kate looked down as the irrational anger fled her body.

"I'm sorry." Kate sighed "I really had no right to freak out on you like that." Matilda gave up being angry and smiled.

"I guess tension is just running a little high right now. A work out should expel our energies." Matilda smiled. And seemed to shake off the argument. Kate smile half heartedly.

"Sure. Let's go." She said and led the way to the gym.
