Hi... I'm back. I am sorry for not updating sooner, I was busy and when I wasn't busy I was procrastinating. However I am here now and I will try to update sooner. Thank you @Dinomeg0 for reminding me to update. So enjoy!
My feet were starting to ache as I walked and tried to not let my natural clumsiness get the best of me. He kept glancing at me with a look of curiosity on his face, it was really starting to tick me off.
As he gave me yet another look I grumbled out "Can you not please, I've had a rough day" Yeah, dying, turning into a ghost and them proceeding to lose your entire family is defiantly not a walk in the park.
"Sorry." He mumbled. We then continued in our awkward silence for a little bit longer.
I was so focused looking at the ground attempting to keep myself from face planting that, when I looked up at the sky the sun was barely peeking up over the horizon and the sky was painted with beautiful shades of orange and pink.
"I guess we should stop for the night." He mumbled beside me and veered of the semi-trial and I followed close behind.
It was a small a clearing with trees surrounding it and a fallen tree lay on the far side. He quickly began bustling about gathering branches and spare twigs while I proceeded to stand around like an idiot. I snapped out of my daze realized that I should be helping so I tried to grab a branch off the ground and my hand just went right through it. I am really starting to hate this whole ghost thing.
When I turned around however he had already put together a pretty big fire. I wandered over and took a seat by the fire. He then pulled out a tiny match box from his pocket, stuck a match and tossed it into the fire.
"Sorry, I don't have any supplies or food I didn't think I would be out this long from camp." He said from across the fire.
"That's ok Christopher, I'm not that hungry anyways."
"Kit."
"Sorry what?"
"I like to be called Kit, when I was born I had heart troubles and the doctors where convinced that I wouldn't make the night. I did however and my mom had already named me Christopher but after she called me Kit which means hope. I thought it was sweet but I also just prefer it as that's what all my friends and family call me."
"Well I don't have a cool story like that." The atmosphere yet again got very awkward so I just looked up at the sky which was now dark and covered in stars.
"What are you thinking about?" Kit whispered.
"Why are whispering?" I whispered back and as I faced him he just shrugged.
I let out a long sigh, "I was just thinking about how I'll never get to see the stars, or walk on the moon."
"Well maybe you could give me some insight on that because well you know, I told you my name story."
I sent him a glare but decided to answer his question. "One time my brother asked me if I wanted to see the stars with him. I said I would and, it was our dream ever since. When the whole apocalypse happened and they came me and my brother were sad but we still had each other. Now I've lost him," my voice broke an I felt a tear fall down my cheek. "I'll probably never see him again."
I quickly brushed the tear away and stared Kit right in the eye, "I think that's enough story telling for tonight."
I laid down on the rocky ground and dozed off.
I still don't know how I managed to fall asleep as I assume ghosts don't need sleep never less, I awoke to birds chirping and Kit hustling about.
"Morning sleepy head." Kit says to me in a rather cheery tone and my response to his cheeriness is a grunt.
"Were close to the base it shouldn't take us much longer." Kit adds.
We yet again begin our long trek into the woods. Whoo! Back to trying not to face plant and the utter creepiness of the forest. It's less awkward then yesterday but Kit casts me curious glances that I chose to ignore this time.
We've been hiking through the forest for a while now and the sun is right above us now. The tall trees that I have been seeing for a while start to space out and open up to reveal a camp.
"Welcome to the camp." He says and gestures around and I take it all in.
Till the next time, toodles!
