Author's Note: So I said I don't like wedging this kind of notes on chapters, but I was supposed to put a cover of my friend singing vulnerable, but as it turns out I won't be able to. Not now anyway, but I would be editing this as soon as he posts the video. I've seen him sing Vulnerable, and I was really excited to haul him out of his box of performing for just his friends. Again, sorry, for the delay, the video and the note. Now, on to the story, since Grey's really getting Antsy.
~ Grey's P.o.V. ~
Thirty minutes later, we're parked in front of Caitlyn's house. Their home wasn't as huge as you'd expect from a wealthy family. Their mom is a renowned journalist while their dad is a doctor.
I've eased Cait's nerves, but I could still see worry in her eyes. I guess I'd be shaken too if a person I know that was as emotionally strong as Cross get as shook up as he was.
I just squeezed her hand before we exited the car.
The house was eerily quiet, their parents still probably at work. I pulled Caitlyn towards Cross' room, hugging her to me since she seems like she was about to pass out. I kissed her forehead, letting her feel that everything was gonna be alright.
I knocked on the door, half expecting him to open it immediately.
When he didn't open it the second time I knocked, we let ourselves in. Cross was sitting on his bed facing the window, his mind somewhere far away.
And my gut told me I wasn't needed here. As much as I want to be here for Caitlyn and Cross, I think it would be better if I leave them alone.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Cait." I said and kissed her cheek. She looked me in the eyes, hers lost. This must be the first time Cross broke down like this.
"Don't worry, Lyn. Just listen. Be there for him. He needs you, only you." Somehow, I managed to ease her a bit. She kissed me and smiled. I closed the door, giving the siblings the time they needed.
I was worried. Cross Fanning is the strongest person I know when it comes down to emotion and mental strength. He keeps his cool even in the most stressful situation, boosting everyone else's morale when they felt like there was no hope.
What ever happened, it must have hit him hard to knock him down like that. His eyes- I felt like I died when all I saw was hollowness.
No one should experience that kind of emptiness.
I realized that I was still standing on their porch, so with a heavy sigh to the skies, I walked back to the car.
It was just a little past six, and I sure as hell don't want to go back to my house. Calling the guys was the only thing that could take my mind off of prying into my girlfriend's brother's problem.
"Hey, Kyle. You guys together?" Ever wonder why I always call Kyle?
I can't call the others because one, I've been too traumatized to ever call Zeus again unless its really important; two, Caden doesn't check his phone that much, so unless I want to listen to his ringback tone for more than ten minutes, no point on dialing his phone; and three, probably the most important, you should never call Alex without sending him a text first.
Its terrifying to see how he's so into a game, and then when someone calls him mid-game he would curse them through hell and back and make sure they pay for interrupting him.
Trust me, you don't want to pull it off yourself if you don't want to be shamed for life.
"Uh Grey, you still there?"
"Huh? Yeah. So where are you guys?"
"Wow. Something must be on your mind, that or you and Caitlyn was cut short." Huh? Why am I speaking with Alex? I checked the ID just to make sure I was calling Kyle's phone.
