"Shailene Elrend." Tony repeats when I tell him my name. "And I take it you can fly and summon fire?" He asks me.
"Well, technically I can control all the elements. As a result, I can fly, because of the air element and can withstand up to supernova like temperatures, because of the fire element. I can also withstand intense pressure, because of the earth element, and hold my breath for a long time because of the water element." I say, correcting him. He gives me a look but nods in interest.
"Wow. That's a lot of powers." Steve comments behind me. I smile, turning to him. "Yeah."
There's silence for a moment before Steve blurts out, "I don't like it."
"What, Rock of Ages giving up so easily?"
"I don't like it being easy. This guy packs a wallop."
Tony shrugs, still in his iron suit, the mask down. "Still, you were pretty spry for an older fellow. What's your thing? Pilates?"
"Oh God, here it comes." Natasha sighs over the ear piece. "Here what comes?" I ask her. She sighs again. "I didn't think they'd get along, and I'm afraid it looks like I'm right."
"What?" Steve asks, seemingly oblivious to Nat and my conversation.
"It's like a calisthenics. You might have missed a few things, you know, doing time as a Capsicle."
"Wow." I say, shaking my head. I glance at Loki quickly, making sure he's securely in his seat. He's slouching in his seat, looking like a brooding teenager. I smile at my own analogy.
"Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in." Steve says, starting to sound pissed.
"Okay boys-"
"Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you." I sighed, watching their argument with my lips pursed into a straight line, arms crossed.
"Is it just me, or is the tension in here so thick that you can cut it with a knife?" I asked. "Ha," Natasha says, chuckling. "I like that analogy. I'm gonna use that the next time I catch them arguing."
"And from the way their glaring at each other, it looks like there's going to be more than one opportunity." I muttered.
Tony glances at me and rolls his eyes. I give him a cheeky smile and a wink in return.
Suddenly, lightening and thunder erupt outside and starts to shake the jet. "Where the hell is this coming from?" Natasha asks.
"What's the matter? Scared of a little lightening?" Steve asks, glancing at Loki. His face is a mask of worry, and he looks slightly green from my angle.
"I'm not overly fond of what follows."
Suddenly, I hear a loud thud from the top of the jet. I draw my gun and move closer to Loki.
(AN-I'm changing some things in this next scene, so just roll with it, okay? I'm probably gonna have to do this some more, just because I have to work Shay in here too, right?)
"What are you doing?" Steve yells as Tony opens the rear hatch.
"Seriously Stark?" I yell over the wind, my hair flying around my head. Suddenly, a tall, rugged looking man with long blond hair lands on the ramp. He starts walking towards Loki, and Tony moves to intercept him. I move closer to Loki. If this man is attempting a jail break, then I need to make sure it doesn't succeed.
Tony's plasma guns start to power up, when the man swings a large, heavy looking hammer at his chest, sending him flying backwards, right into Steve. The two crash to the ground, leaving only me to attempt to try and fight him off.
I ditch the gun and start to form a fire ball in my palm when the hammer shoots out again and hits me in the shoulder, sending me flying backwards, falling on the same shoulder that was hit by the hammer. Damn it, I think I dislocated my shoulder.
"I apologize m'lady." I hear the man say in a deep voice as I lay groaning on the ground.
He grabs Loki by the front of his attire, giving him a death glare that greatly confuses me, and moves to jump out of the plane.
In an almost instinctive manner, I grab the end of Loki's cape, not really sure what the hell I'm doing.
"Shay! What are you doing?" I hear Steve yell at the same time as Tony, who yells something along the lines of, "Don't be stupid and let go."
Thor jumps out of the plane, still a tight grip on his shirt. And my hand clenched firmly around the end of Loki's cape. I feel myself getting dragged across the floor in one rapid movement. More yelling and screaming from my cohorts on deck.
"Damn it!" Two grown mortal men would be hard enough to hold up, but two demi gods? One most likely weighing 300 pounds, and was using all his damn weight to make the descent quicker? No way in hell was I going to be able to keep them on the quinjet.
I slid over the side of the plane, Loki's cape ripping in my hand. I feel myself free falling.
I sighed in frustration as I fell head over heels through the air. I closed my eyes and manipulated the air around and below me. I slowed to a stop, bobbing lightly up and down.
I shot up through the air, and landed somewhat delicately on the quinjet's open rear hatch. Steve and Tony were to busy arguing to notice my dramatic entrance.
Natasha saw me though, and I put a finger up to my lips, telling her to be silent.
"Cap, I can just fly down and get her. Just stay up here and-"
"And what? No, we have to get Loki back now, and save Shay before she dies! Stop wasting time!"
"Aw, you guys care about me!" I exclaim.
Steve and Tony turn to look at me in surprise. "What, how did you-"
"Oh God, we're so stupid." Tony said, cutting Steve off. "Didn't she tell us she could control the elements?" He asked.
I smiled lightly. "Yeah, well, that's fine. We have to get Loki back though. If that Asgardian friend of his frees or kills him, the Tesseract's lost." I say.
I nod at the two, turning away. "Suit up boys."
I grab my gun off the floor just as Tony runs to the edge of the ramp and jumps off. I roll my eyes and turn to look at the Captain.
"Maybe you want to sit this one out Captain." I said, adjusting my belt. "I'm sure he'll be fine."
"I don't see how I can." He replies, pulling a parachute on.
"These guys are from legends, their basically gods." Natasha says seriously. I agree with Natasha, these guys were legendary.
But so was Steve.
"There's only one God, ma'am."
"And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
Steve jumps off the side, shield in hand.
I smile slightly. "So. He's Christian. Good to know." I comment as I walk to the edge of the ramp.
"Shay, I think we have enough support on the ground. You should seriously sit this one out. Your shoulder looks dislocated." Nat said worriedly.
I turned back to her at the edge of the ramp and smiled. "I'm not going down to help," I say, smiling.
"I'm going down to watch."
