((Okay longest chapter so far. Mwahahahahhhaaaaaa!!))
Jen held my hand as we walked into the hotel with our luggage. She was barely staying upright and was using me for support. Once again we were all soaked, even though the bus parked as close to shelter as possible. She was dozing off on my arm as we checked in and got our room keys.
"Jen," I said quietly.
Her head shot up, "Huh what-oh."
"Do you wanna room with me?"
She smiled up and me, "Please?"
I smiled and got the room key, "Ta-da! C'mon, let's get you to bed. It's been a rough night."We all went up to our floor, at the very top of the hotel. Once everyone found their rooms, we all said goodnight and went our separate ways.
I unlocked our room and opened the door for Jen, "M'lady."
She giggled tiredly and took her violin in with her, "Oh thank you good sir!"
The room was a two-bed, pretty tight but still livable. Under the TV area was a mini fridge and lots of empty shelves. The bathroom was to the right of the entrance, across from the closet, which had a big body mirror for a door.Jen gasped and looked around, "Woah, this is so cool!"
She giggled and leapt on one of the beds, beside the window, landing face first into it.
I chuckled and followed, putting my two big suitcases next to my bed, "This is rather nice."She giggled again into the pillows, sounding muffled, "I love it. I haven't slept in a decent-" she stopped, going quiet for a while. I let her be, feeling that she wanted to be alone a while. Many questions bubbled up inside me, and eventually i had to ask one of them.
Instead, I grabbed my toiletries and arranged them on the counter until I was satisfied with what I saw. Not much was there anyway, we were only here to wait the storm out. It's a wonder, I thought that the electricity hasn't fully gone out yet.
I strolled back out into the main room. Jen had rolled over onto her back and was staring at the ceiling, blinking a lot. I snuck over and sat beside her, "Hey. Are you alright?"She looked at me and sniffed before grinning, 'I'm good. Just...just tired."
"Get some sleep. I know you are frightened but...I'll be here, okey? You're safe," I reassure her, gently squeezing her hand.
She squeezed back, "I can't do it.""Do you want me to hold you," I asked impulsively, then blushed, "I-I'm sorry, that was way over the line-"
"No," she said quickly, "N-no I would like that very much. Just no funny business okay," she said, giggling.
I smiled and swung my legs up parallel to hers, scooting closer and wrapping my arm under her neck. I nuzzled her cheek then her hair.
"Sleep well. I promise, no funny business," I replied quietly.
With that, I reached over and turned out the lamp. Booms of thunder and her even, steady breathing was the last thing I heard before falling asleep.Steady rain and lowkey thunder rumbling greeted me as I awoke the next day. The room was dark, due to the heavy curtains over the large window, so naturally I thought it was early, like five or six in the morning. My eyes landed on a lump in the covers beside me and for a moment I was confused.
Then it moved and grunted delicately and I remembered."Jen," I said quietly, gently rubbing her back.
She grunted again, less delicately this time, "I refuse to wake up."
I chuckled and pulled back the sheet, "Good morning you."
She smiled up at me sleepily before yawning. I pulled her into me and cuddled her securely, "How'd you sleep?"
"Pretty good. How did you-" she stopped. She looked up at me in amazement. I chuckled and looked at her questioningly.
"I...I actually slept good. I haven't done that in a while," she said.
