"Drink it slowly, I don't want you to burn your mouth"
"It's fine! I can handle a lil heat!" Yuse took a gulp of the black coffee I had prepared.
I rolled my eyes as I watch him make a light grimace. He burned himself..again.
"Hey (Y/n) how come you wont let me have anything else?" Yuse asked.
"I-i did some research and after your surgery you're supposed to be on a plain liquid diet so I made you black coffee."
At least it was only a half lie right?
Whenever the topic of Yuse being half ghoul came around I always beat around the bush. I can't bring myself to talk about it. All I can think of is Kanae's words.
Could Yuse handle being a ghoul?"Ac-ACK!" I jumped up from the chair beside Yuse's bed. He began to have another coughing fit. The third one in less than 24 hours.
I held him against my chest and with one hand I pressed downwards on his back.
At least he didn't cough blood like last time...Yuzei went back to work today and so I volunteered to take care of Yuse.
But it wasn't easy, seeing him like this. As if he's not my brother anymore. He's weak and sick. He's bruised and bandaged. His smile is a mask and his entire being seems fragile, as if even the slightlest tip in one other direction could take him away.As his coughing fit faded out,I eased him back onto the pillow and covered his eyes with a damp towel.
"Take rest, don't try moving or anything again!" I scolded gently
"You have my word" His voice was rough but he held his smile.
I sat my aching self down and watched him slowly fall into a deep sleep.I ran my fingers through my hair and a gentle frown took my lips.
Uta... I can't do it alone...
