Chapter 18

[Bearstar's POV]

I saw Midnightstar and small group of warrior come into my camp. It wasn't enough for a battle patrol but it could easily have been sent to distract us from something. I growled and lashed my tail. I jumped down from High Rock where I had seen them enter the camp and went over to Midnightstar.

"What are you doing here, Midnightstar? You know you don't belong here." I snarled in the black furred leader's face most likely getting some spit on her as well but I didn't care at the moment. I was protecting my clan.

"I came to tell you something important. You weren't here for the last attack either. Please, I don't want to talk about this in front of everyone. I will bring Witheredsoul since he knows about this. I suggest your medicine cat or your deputy." She said quietly as she saw more cats from my clan staring at the two of us. I backed off and nodded.

"Fine. Fallenjay! Come this way with us." I yowled for the deputy and headed toward my den. It was the most secluded area in our camp at the moment and everyone knew to stay away from it.

"Thank you." Midnightstar said as she entered the den with the new warrior behind her. I nodded and sat down with my deputy next to me.

"What is it that you wanted to tell me?" I asked her in a slight snarl wanting to get this over with. The sooner they were gone, the happier I would be. I didn't trust those filthy DepthClan warriors.

"It's about the Dark Forest. Right before you came here, they attacked my clan. Spokenstar and Nightmoon were both killed and so would the rest of our clan if Flamefur didn't step up. I have word that they were planning another attack. I don't know when it will be, but they have two Phantoms on their side. Tinyclaw is their leader as well. She is heavy with kits and will have a moon until she kits. They will not attack until she has kitted. She wouldn't allow them to. I have words that lead me to believe that they are coming after all the clans as well. They are coming after everyone, no matter what their clan." The shecat said flicking her tail. Witheredsoul looked bored next to her but I didn't comment on him.

"Phantoms? What are those? What do you think we should do until they attack?" I asked almost worried. I wouldn't let the shecat see me worried anyways. Once she was gone, I could truly worry.

"They are cats that have died a second death in the Dark Forest. They become like the shadows and can possess cats. It happened to Bluesnow. The one that possessed her is still alive as well. It is very hard to kill one of them since they can vanish in an instant. For the preparation, keep training all your warriors and make sure their fighting ability is the best." Midnightstar said.
