Chapter 1: Monday Morning Blues..

It was a dark and stormy night. The rain fell down to the earth making a pattering sound on its way. Lightning flashed and thunder crackled.

I was in the arms of a woman whom i did not recognise. The woman was muttering strange but soothing words to me. Suddenly out of the blue a man came running and started chanting some strange words. His hands started glowing and emitting strange light. He directed his hands towards us and i suddenly felt a lot of pain surging through my body. I started crying out loud. As i was a baby i did not know what was going on. But the woman who held me certainly knew and she too started muttering strange words. Then, slowly the pain started to decease from my body. Now the man had muttered something and suddenly a fire had started.

I cried even louder as the flames surrounded us. The woman too cried out in pain and her body started burning. Then somehow there was a blinding light and i could not see anything anymore. All i could hear were the painful screams of the woman.

I heard someone saying my name " Aura, Aura. Wake up dear."
I opened my eyes gasping and drenched in sweat.
I saw my mom looking worried in front of me.
" Aura darling, are you alright? Was it that nightmare again? "
" Yes mom. It was horrible. I just don't understand why I'm getting these nightmares. "
" It must be those horror films you watch so much. "
" Mom" i groaned, " Stop it"
" Alright sweetie but you might want to consider getting ready for school since its already 7:30."
" What? Are you kidding me mom? You know what i don't want to go to school today."
" As much as i love you i would never in a million years allow that. Now get up and be ready soon young lady or else no pancakes for you."
I had the monday morning blues as usual. I quickly got up on my feet and hurried to brush my teeth and to take
a shower. I wouldn't want to miss eating mom's pancakes as they are simply the most amazing pancakes i have ever eaten. I quickly got dressed in my school uniform which was a blue shirt and a green skirt paired with a green tie. I know right-so boring. But unfortunately, uniforms were compulsory in our school that is Avalon High. I stopped a moment to look at my reflection before​ going downstairs. I had blondish brown hair more like honey coloured hair and amber flecked brown eyes.

What i found funny was that i didn't resemble any of my family members. My parents and my little brother Luke had dark hair and blue eyes.

My parents assured me that my great aunt had looked like me. I was a bit confused but accepted it anyway. Who cares anyways.

I rushed downstairs for eating breakfast. I saw my dad and Luke sitting around the dining table and mom cooking in the kitchen. I sat beside dad and grabbed my plate. Mom came over to me and placed hot and delicious pancakes on my plate. I quickly poured some syrup on them and took a bite from the pancake.

It was yummy like always. " I swear mom you make the best pancakes ever" i said with my mouth full.
"Aura don't talk while eating" scolded dad and Luke laughed and ate messily like a four year old while he was actually twelve-a year younger than me.

I quickly finished my pancakes, grabbed my bag and shoved on my shoes. At that very moment the doorbell rang. "Oh! That must be Vicki" i said referring to my best friend from kindergarten Victoria Reynolds. I opened the door. Vicki smiled at me and said "Hey Aura! Long time no see huh". I laughed and gave her a big hug. Vicki was a pretty brown haired and green eyed girl. She was very sweet and quite straightforward. I invited her to come in.

"Hello Mr and Mrs Renders and Luke". They all greeted her in unison "Hi". I went over to my mom and dad kissed their cheeks and ruffled Luke's hair. "hey!" yelled Luke in annoyance. I just chuckled and said goodbye to them. I linked my arms with Vicki and started on our way to school as usual.
