Chapter 3: The Strange People..

The next day i woke up after the same nightmare which had been haunting me ever since i had turned thirteen.

I quickly got ready and went downstairs to eat breakfast. Mom greeted me and said that Vicki had informed that she wouldn't go to school today as she was ill. I was disappointed as it meant i had to go to school alone. I ate breakfast and went to school.

I had dreaded meeting Rachel but surprisingly she hadn't come to school either. I felt happy for that reason and somehow school went on smoothly. School ended as usual and i was going to take the same route i usually take for going home. But to my surprise it was blocked as some construction work was going on.

Then i had to take the only other route which was through a silent alley. I glanced around my surroundings cautiously as i had never taken this route before and there were rumors that there were dangers lurking around. I was passing an alley when i heard screams. I quickly detected the direction they came from and rushed there. Two people were in a heated argument.

They were speaking so fast that i was only able to catch a few words-"where is princess?""queen Mei""frozen palace".

Then suddenly one of them muttered some strange words and beams of light shot out from his hand. The other man mimicked his actions and the beams of light collided with each other and then disappeared after making a small explosion. Taking advantage of this the second man disappeared. All this time i had been standing there shocked and astounded. I didn't know what to do and didn't move as if i was paralysed.

This had been a repeat of the events which had taken place in my dream. But it couldn't be true. Magic wasn't real and so wasn't this. I must be dreaming then. It would be better if i wake up soon. I pinched myself to check whether i am dreaming or not. I felt the pain in my arm and realization dawned on me. This wasn't a dream. It was all a horrible incident. I took a faltering step back and then another. Then i turned and quickly ran in the direction of my home.
