16 Dares

The dress

*DING DONG* Groaning, I sit up on the couch, and yawn. Why am I on the couch? I see Tess sprawled across the couch across from me, and all the memories of last night came flooding back. On my way to the front door, I checked the time. 10:37 a.m. Throwing open the door, I see a very perky Mackenzie, Rocky, Sam, and Riley with skateboards in hand. "What are you guys doing here?" I ask. "Well since you have to go to prom now, and it's two weeks away, we decided to go prom dress shopping!" Mackenzie explains. Darn it, I forgot I was going to prom. "girl you are a mess go upstairs, take a shower, and change your clothes!" Sam ordered. Rolling my eyes, I opened the door wider so they could come in. Rocky marched over to Tess, and began shaking her awake. "WHAT?!" Tess screamed, when Rocky woke her up. Tess is not a morning person. At all. She's the worst out of all of us. The girls started cracking up, while Tess crossed her arms and pouted. "C'mon Tess, let's go shower, you can use the guest bathroom" I call to Tess from down the hall. I lazily made my way up the stairs, into my bedroom, and finally arrived in my bathroom. After my shower, I dressed in my orange off the shoulder crop top, light denim shorts, and navy blue vans. I let my hair dry naturally in a messy bun. Bounding down the stairs, I found Tess, beat me to the kitchen, an they were all snacking on the cookies Tess and I got last night. Popping a cookie into my mouth, I realized I didn't have enough room in my car for all six of us. Well, someone will be sitting in the trunk with the skateboards. "You guys ready?" I ask. Nodding in agreement, they stood up from the table, grabbed their things, and headed to the garage. Making sure I had my phone wallet and keys, I followed them out. "Who wants to sit in the back?" I asked as we got beside my car. Everyone was silent until Rocky yelled "Sam does!" After that everyone scrambled into the car, trying to get good seats. And I turned out. Sam was the one who had to sit in the trunk. Grumbling, Sam opened the trunk door, and climbed in, pulling her knees to her chest. Laughing to myself, I pulled out of the garage, and followed Mackenzie's instruction to the first store.

I was having the worst luck ever with finding a dress! Everything was too pink, too frilly, too tight, too revealing, or too similar to what the other girls got. We were at our last store when I saw a dress that caught my eye. It was a simple,floor length, gray chiffon dress, with a fabric design on the top. "Skyler what are you...." Mackenzie trailed off, noticing what I was staring at. Her jaw dropped, and she turned to me and told me to try the dress on immediately. I took the dress, and headed towards the dressing rooms. Slipping the dress off the hanger, I stepped into it, and zipped it up. I didn't bother looking in the mirror, as I unlocked the dressing room door, and slipped outside, so Tess, Sam, Mackenzie, Rocky,  and Riley could see the dress. As soon as Riley saw me her eyes widened, Sam's jaw dropped, Mackenzie clamped a hand over her mouth, Tess dropped her phone, and Rocky choked on her spit. Was it bad? "Skyler" Rocky began. "You" Tess added on. "Look" Mackenzie threw in. "Absolutely" Sam butted in. "Amazing!" Riley finished. They all eagerly nodded their heads. I turned and looked in the mirror, and knew for a fact, I had found my dress.

Since I was the last one to find my dress, I paid for it, and left. From the trunk, I heard Sam's stomach growl. "Hungry Sam?" Riley teases. We heard her mumble a 'yes', and I decided we should go to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Climbing out of the car, we made our way inside, ordered, and sat down at a table. Fishing through her pocket, Sam pulled out a wrinkled skicky note and slid it across the table to me. Picking it up, I read the dare. Well this could be fun. My dare today, is to teepee, and egg my neighbor's house. Just one problem though. My neighboor is a police officer. Let me rephrase that. He is THE HEAD police officer. He just moved in and, although I've never seen him, I hear he's a scary guy. But whatever, a dare is a dare, and it's got to be done. The girls were looking at me with questionable faces. I nodded my head, as if to say 'I'm doing it'. Our food came after that, and we dug in. Taking a sip of my lemonade, I realized I had a question for Mackenzie. "So Kenz, are you going to prom with Joey?" I ask wiggling my eyebrows. "We're all going together, I thought you knew that! Unless you have your eye on a boy, then I suppose you could drop out of the group" Mackenzie said, realizing it was her turn to wiggle her eyebrows. "Oh she do...." Tess began to say, but I clamped my hand over her mouth, before she could say anymore. I knew she was going to tell them about Blake, and what happened last night at the grocery store. "Something your not telling us?" Riley asks suspiciously. "No!" I say quickly. Too quickly. "You can tell us Skyler, we're your best friends" Sam exclaims. Sighing, I told them the whole story. "Well Skyler, look at you! Gettin that bait!" Sam teases. I stuck my tongue out at her, causing her to laugh. "Our dear Skyler is growing up so fast! I'm so proud!" Mackenzie says dramatically. Maybe I am.
