Maddy's Pov
As we walked back to camp I felt...The whole zoo in my stomach. Not just butterflies. I had just kissed him and he woke up. On this land only a true loves kiss can do that, and I kissed him. I'm not in love with him...Right?. My mind was racing as the jumbles of animals in my stomach stomped around. The thought of loved seemed dumb and impossible before today. I then looked up at him, his eyes now looking down at mine. I wrested my head on his shoulders as we continued to walk back to camp. "You look tired" he said jokingly when it was clearly obvious.
"Peter, just to clarify. I'm never going to be able to leave the island?" I asked for reassurance. "...Not unless you want to die" he stated as my eyes widened. I couldn't ever see my family again but after today I didn't really want to.
Peters Pov
She loved me...And I loved her. It didn't seem real. I'm a horrible person, how can a girl like her fall for a guy like me. She wasn't just any girl, she was mine. She was the only one who could make me feel as if I wasn't the monster everybody thought I was.
Chuck. The little guy who I tried to kill earlier ran up to us. He looked up at Maddy with starry eyes. Then he took one look at me and began to shake but he shook it off and began to focus back on Maddy. "Thank you, for saving my life" he said with pure greatfulness. "Anytime" She laughed. Then silence conquered. "Chuck." I paused uncertain of what to say. "I'm sorry I nearly killed you" I said as I searched his eyes for forgiveness. He gave me a small smile. "It's cool" he said shrugging it off. "Hey well I'm tired so I'm gonna head out" he said running ahead of us. She looked up at the twinkling speks in the sky with a smile. I looked up with her. She was right they did make me feel free, at peace.
