Chapter 5: "Birthday Girl"

Cleo's P.O.V

I got ready for school because Derek woke me up for that apparently. I got my backpack then got my helmet and went and got on my motorcycle. I drove to school parked where I usually do I see Skylar getting out of Peter's car. "Have a good day, try not to hit anyone," Peter yells. "Good to see you, Skylar," I said. "How are you?" She asked. "Good I guess, Derek and I got back together," I said. "Peter and I did too," Sky says. "I could see that," I say. "So our second full moon is coming up Peter is helping me," Skylar said. "Don't remind me," I growled.

I had to go to history first I came in the classroom. "Ms. McCall, glad to see your back." Mr. Willison said. "Me too," I said. I got to my desk Skylar wasn't in this hour so I had a history class, before her. "Turn to page 106 your assignment is to write something about related to your family, you can write about growing up and something that happened that's history to your family and you can add one friend." Mr. Willison said. "Uh, Mr. Willison I have a question?" I said. "Yes, Ms. McCall." He said. "Can it be fiction?" I asked. "Yes, it can... but also make it as if it had happened." Mr, Willison said. 'I'm going to have fun with this.' I thought.

I finished it that night I came in my room and turned my lamp on and right my heart jumped. "Derek, don't scare me like that!" I said. "Sorry, just wanted to tell you I'm taking you out for your birthday next week," Derek said. 'How'd he find out?' "Did my mom tell you?" I asked. "Yeah, is something wrong?" He asked. "I never celebrate my birthday I just never do," I said. "That make's two of us it's just a date our first," Derek said. "By the way I hate surprises," I said. "And don't buy me anything I don't need you to spend your money on me," I said.

One week later it was my birthday I was looking at myself in the mirror at my dress that I had to pick out. "You look beautiful." Mom said. "Thanks, mom," I said. "So do you know where he is taking you?" Mom asked. "He said it was surprising and you know how I hate surprises," I said. "I know sweetheart, but you seem really into Derek... and so does he so just try and have a good time." Mom said. "It's our first date... a lot could go wrong, meaning Kate that dumb bitch that came back from the dead wants to kill me," I said. I heard Derek's car pull up I come down the stairs to see Derek in a v-neck shirt and jeans. "Take care of her." Mom said.

We drove for a while I wondered where he was taking me, of course, he held my hand. "Why is your heart beating so fast?" Derek asked. "I'm nervous," I said. "Don't be." He said. We drove up to preserve area. "What are we doing here?" I asked. "I can't tell you yet." He said and came over my side and blindfolded me. He held my hand as we traveled through the forest the blindfold finally came off. I'm looking at a picnic on the ground with a bunch of lanterns around us. "You did all this?" I asked. "Yes." He said. "Come here," I said and kissed him.

We talked for awhile he told me some things about his family which I knew was gone. "Scott was always the trouble maker when I was little," I said. "You sure... because you can be a trouble maker too," Derek said. "You want to pick a fight," Derek said. "Usually I could win a fight, Derek," I said. "What happens if you don't win it?" He asked. "The I'm just done with it." I said.
