Marauder's Map in hand, and Invisibility Cloak on, Harry shook Ron awake saying, "Hermione's on the move."

Ron jumped up faster than Harry had ever seen him do so in his life and he was quickly and safely secured beneath the cloak with Harry within seconds.

Sneaking out of the Common Room was quite simple because of the countless occasions they had done so in the past, so it was easy for them to sneak out, and the minute they caught up to Hermione, they put away the map and followed her as quietly as they possibly could.

After a few minutes of walking, Hermione finally turned into what appeared to be an empty classroom, and they did the same. They had never seen this classroom before, and they would have wondered about its place at Hogwarts, as it seemed abandoned, had they not been distracted by the scene unraveling right before their very eyes.

"Draco!" Hermione exclaimed. She ran over to the blonde haired boy and pulled him into an embrace. He kissed her forehead and after a few seconds, they pulled apart.

This sickened both Ron and Harry. They were frozen in place.

Well, I doubt she's snogging Draco Malfoy, so who else wouldn't we approve of?

Those words played back in Harry's mind over and over.

Draco laughed lightly. "Miss me already, Hermione? We've only been apart a school day."

"Don't act like you didn't miss me too. I am a delight." Hermione said, playfully crossing her arms.

Draco threw his arms up in mock defense. "Alright, alright. You got me! I missed you, too."

The two displayed such warm smiles on their faces as they moved onto their next topic.

This was almost more than Ron and Harry could bear. They almost wished Hermione and Malfoy were only snogging because then it would mean nothing, but instead Hermione and Malfoy were sharing loving embraces and forehead kisses. That meant something and it tore both Ron and Harry to pieces.

They sat in silence in a corner concealed by Harry's cloak while Hermione and Malfoy talked about Hermione's parents; a topic she rarely discussed with either Ron or Harry.

Even stranger was the fact that Malfoy almost seemed like a real person to them. He showed concern and understanding, and he listened to what she had to say. After years of seeing Malfoy treating them with only cruel intentions, they were stunned.

"Draco, as much as I love talking about my parents, there's actually something else I wanted to talk to you about, but you must promise to not taunt me about it."

Hermione had fallen into more of a serious mood, and Draco visibly softened.

"Of course. You can tell me anything."

"I think I've figured out why Ron and I are constantly arguing." She said. Draco could tell she was choosing her words carefully.

"Really? Go on now. Why do you think?" Draco asked. His curiosity getting the better of him.

"I think... I fancy him, Draco."

Ron felt his heart catch in his throat.

Draco laughed.

"Oi! You arse! You said you wouldn't taunt me!" Hermione exclaimed while whacking Draco's shoulder.

After his laughing ceased, Draco found himself saying, "No, no. It's not that Hermione. I hate to steal your thunder, it's just that I've something to tell you as well."

"What is it?"

Draco took a deep breath, willing himself to speak again.

"Okay, I'm not going to lie. I thought that maybe you harbored some feelings for Harry, but now that I know you don't..." Draco said, trailing off and hoping Hermione could put the rest together herself.

Hermione suddenly gasped and asked Draco with concern evident in her voice, "Do you fancy Harry, Draco?"

Harry held his breath.

"Yes, I do. I have for quite a while now. Years even." Draco confessed. It felt as though a great load was just lifted off his shoulders now that he didn't have to keep his secret himself.

"Why haven't you told me until now?" Hermione asked.

"Lots of reasons, but the main one was that I didn't want to lose you. I don't know what I would do without you. You're more than just a friend to me, Hermione. You're like a sister." Draco said sheepishly.

At that, Hermione pulled Draco into another hug, which he melted into.

"I know I don't stand a chance with him. I know he's probably straight and could win over any girl at Hogwarts that he wanted. And I know he hates absolutely everything about me, but I'm so glad I have someone I could tell about this. You've no idea how much this eats me up inside." Draco confessed.

"Listen, Harry just doesn't know the you that I do. It seems as though no one does. Maybe a step in the right direction would be letting others see a glimpse of the Draco I see? It might not get him to fall in love with you, but maybe you two can be friends at some point. I know I'd love if we didn't have to hide our friendship." Hermione said and pulled away from their hug.

"Maybe, but I don't know..."

"Draco, you don't have to put up so many walls. I know you think they protect you, but look at us. This friendship never would have formed if you hadn't knocked a wall down and sent me that first letter." Hermione reasoned.

"Okay, I'll try. But I'm not going to make any grand gestures. I'm starting small. Maybe we could study in the library together rather than after hours for example. That would be a nice change."

"I would love that."

"Small gestures of peace it is then. You don't think Ron will hex me again for talking to you in public, do you? I know you fancy the git, but I don't know if I can handle being called a bloody Death Eater and hexed in the middle of the Great Hall again." The thought of the memory alone made Draco sick and he felt shivers run through his whole body.

Hermione sighed. "I'm sorry he ever did that to you in the first place, but I can assure you that it will never happen again. I won't allow it to."

Draco felt instant relief upon those words and let out a small laugh.

"What would I ever do without you?" Draco laughed.

"Crash and burn, but that's why I'm here. Someone has to protect that pretty face of yours."

"Y'know, what? Ron has to fancy you back. I can't imagine he wouldn't."

"Draco, you don't have to say that. I think he has the hots for Lavender Brown."

"Hermione, believe me. I'm not just saying it. I've seen the looks he gives you and the way he acts when you two are arguing. What he shows is the looks of a man in love."

"How do you know?"

"They're the looks I wish I could give Harry."

At this point, Ron tapped Harry's shoulder and pointed behind them. This was his way of signaling that they should make their exit. Harry couldn't agree more.
